Jack of Diamonds
Group of Russian avant-garde painters active in Moscow from 1910 to 1917. It was founded by Mikhail Larionov, Natalya Goncharova, Aristarkh Lentulov, Pyotr Konchalovsky, Robert Falk, Ilya Mashkov and Aleksandr Kuprin, young artists who found membership of existing art societies no longer compatible with their experimental styles of painting. Regular participants included Alexandra Exter, David Burlyuk and Vladimir Burlyuk. The name Jack of Diamonds, chosen by Larionov, suggested not only the roguish behaviour of the
