Romanticism
Romanticism refers to an artistic, as well as intellectual and literary movement, which gained prominence in the late eighteenth century. It was born in part as a response to the growing industrialization of Europe; the social and political turmoil in revolutionary France; and as a reaction against the academic, Neoclassical Style.
