  • Company Overview

W&H Peacock was founded in 1901 by brothers Walter and Harry Peacock. Walter had returned from the Boer War to find his position with another firm of Auctioneers had been taken, so he set up in competition.

The Company was run independently until the late 1980's when it was purchased by the TSB. Further corporate ownership followed under Black Horse Agencies, and the Bradford and Bingley until October 2000 when a management buyout formed one of the largest independent auction houses in England, selling over 200,000 lots ayear

The company now extends across Cambridgeshire, with an Auction Centre in St.Neots, into Essex with Ambrose, in Loughton, and Warwickshire with Locke & England in Leamington Spa.

Our team of experienced staff make W&H Peacock, Ambrose and Locke & England the automatic choice for private and professional clients requiring chattel auction and valuation advice for fine art, antiques and general household furniture and effects, commercial and industrial assets.

Mark Baker - Managing Director of the company, Mark joined the company in 1975. Mark specialises in the valuation and sale of commercial and industrial chattels.

Simon Rowell - Director Simon joined the firm in 1991 and is now responsible for the valuation and sale of antiques, fine art, and general household effects at W&H Peacock.

Chris Armstrong - Chris is a specialist Plant & Machinery valuer, and deals with all aspects of commercial chattel valuation. He joined W&H Peacock in 1992.
