  One of the longest established auction houses in the north of England, we trace our roots in Carlisle back to 1890 when the firm was founded by H E Winter, a local auctioneer, valuer & estate agent. In 1999 we became part of H&H Group plc, then one of the largest livestock auction groups of companies in Europe.

  Our former auction room, in Lowther Street, Carlisle, was a fine listed Victorian building. We refurbished the interior in 2003 to provide all the sophistication of a modern auction room in a genuine traditional setting. Our inaugural auction there was filmed by the BBC for several editions of their programme Flog It!.

  In December 2006 we vacated our City Centre premises, allowing all the auction room's activities to be focused at our newly extended and refurbished Auction Centre at Rosehill, Carlisle . This venue provides easy access, being adjacent to the M6, with ample free parking. At our inaugural catalogued auction at The Auction Centre, Rosehill, the BBC returned to film four editions of Bargain Hunt.

  With the advent of the digital camera, many clients are finding it particularly convenient to send us photographs by email of items they are considering selling at auction. We are able to send valuations by return. Please email us using the link above.
