Four issues, 644, 608, 564, 516, pages, 23 cm. Menorah. A Jewish magazine in German in the years before Hitler came to power. These issues are from the years 7-10 [of its publication] with many illustrations and pictures, usually printed on special paper. The magazine was an important medium for expression by Jews who wanted to integrate into German cultural life, and important Jewish writers and artists contributed articles. The last issue is from December 1932, and as far as is known it ceased publication after this (apparently as a result of the Nazis coming to power.) Original binding. Very fine condition.

Description: GRACIE FIELDS AUTOGRAPHS AND MEMORABILIA COLLECTION. Dame Gracie Fields, DBE (born Grace Stansfield, 9 January 1898 - 27 September 1979), was an English actress, singer and comedienne and star of both cinema and music hall. She spent the later part of her life on the isle of Capri, Italy. Fields was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for "services to entertainment" in 1938, and in 1979, seven months before her death, she was invested a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II. This is a huge collection of over 110 signed letters, Christmas Cards, postcards, books, photos dating back to 1950s, plus a huge amount of unpublished photos including holiday type pictures in her home in Capri. 45 RPM records, over 40 79RPM records, rare signed 1933 Box set, Scrap books, and news cuttings. Also a number of Christmas cards from Gracie's former housekeeper. Need extensive study which will certainly reveal valuable content letters. Rare photos and would build into a wonderful collection about one of Britains Greatest Entertainers. Collection includes: Selection of handwritten greetings cards all in original mailing envelopes, dating back to 1950 many handwritten and signed by Gracie Fields Over 10 other letters of correspondence again in original mailing envelopes, dating back to 1950 many handwritten or typed and signed by Gracie Fields Over 50 postcards handwritten and signed by Gracie Fields all of which were mailed from Capri to the same person in Middlesex. Over 100 postcards of various designs some of people, others landscapes, variety of black and white, sepia and colour. May be a few duplicate images. Amongst the postcards some have been handwritten and mailed. 5 photo albums of varying sizes all containing over 150 unpublished photos including holiday type pictures in her home in Capri, some taken in Torquay, Margate, Hampton Court, 4 scrap books, which house press cuttings dating back to 1940. Over 40 photos of Gracie Fields at various stages in career. Variety of sizes and combination of black and white, sepia and the odd one or two coloured. 15 signed photos either on front or back of photo. Again mixture of sizes and colours. 15 assorted programmes and pamphlets from shows and events she appeared in. 3 signed and framed black and white photos of Gracie Fields 3 photos in frames unsigned 1 colour photo mounted unsigned. 1 Large sepia photo signed and framed. Few knocks to frame. 2 books each containing handwritten accolades and memories of Gracie Fields, all written neatly and then attached inside the books. Written by same person 6 hardback books, some autographed by Gracie Fields others not. Books included are Gracie Fields by Muriel Burgess and Tommy Keen, Gracie Fields her autobiography sing a we go, 2 copies of Our Gracie, the life of Dame Gracie Fields by Joan Moules, Gracie Fields her life in pictures by Peter Hudson and Gracie Fields Gay street book, stories by Enid Blyton, Gunby Hadath, Robert Harding and others. All books are showing signs of wear and tear. DVD box set - Collectors edition of 7 films which are Sally in our Alley, Love life and laughter, Looking on the bright side, Queen of Hearts, The Show Goes on, Sing as we go and Look up and Laugh. Never opened It's me back again cd of Gracie Fields 3 cassette box set of A Musical Memory of "Our Gracie" - fifty songs from the Heart. 3 7" vinyl records - 1 has on it, A Certain smile, The loveliest night of the year, Ive grown accustomed to his face and Somewhere, 2 has on it Mistakes, The last mile home, Wish me luck and If I should fall in love. The 3rd record is Capri n'est pas finis sono piccolino 1 telegram from 1975 1 poster of Gracie Fields advertising The Life and Times of Rochdales very own star of stage and screen. Over 20 Lp's which are 2 copies of Singalong with Gracie Fields superstar, 2 copies of Life's is a song, 2 copies of The Golden years of Gracie Fields, 2 copies of The World of Gracie Fields vol 2, Hey there, Sing as we go, 3 different copies of Our Gracie, Amazing Gracie, The Golden Age of Gracie Fields on stage and screen, It's me back again, The World of Gracie Fields, Stars on Sunday, Gracie, Gracie Fields ace of clubs, Gracie Fields Stage and Screen and Gracie Fields The Best of Her BBC Broadcasts. Over 40 78rpm records all in original brown sleeves by Decca, Regal and His Master's voice.
