Tom Gilleon ?looking Back, I Was Probably Most Influenced By The Old Era Art Directors And Illustrators Who Had The Amazing Ability To Quickly And Simply Tell A Story Or Convey A Feeling With Their Artwork. I Believe That This Simplicity And Strength Is The Key To Fine Art. Light, Color, Value, Composition And Line Are Paramount In Importance.? ? R. Tom Gilleon R. Tom Gilleon?s Art Is Hard To Pigeonhole. His Interpretations Of The American West Are Genuine And Unique. His Representations Of Native Teepees Are Archetypal And Primitive In Their Basic Forms Yet They Are Remarkably Contemporary In Composition With A Sprinkling Of Personal Symbols And Humor. Gilleon?s Work Is Coveted By Collectors, Increasingly Finding Homes In Prominent Museums And Auctions Such As The Coeur D?alene. Gilleon Was Born In 1942 And Raised In Florida By His Grandparents In The Tiny Outpost Of Starke, Near Jacksonville And The Storied Banks Of The Suwannee River. His Grandfather Had Immigrated To The United States From Scotland And Became A Renowned Cabinetmaker. His Grandmother Was A Full-blooded Cherokee. Gilleon Earned A Scholarship To Play Baseball At The University Of Florida Where He Took Courses In Architecture. He Served In The Navy In The Early 1960s And Then Worked As An Illustrator For Nasa?s Apollo Space Program. Eventually, He Went Solo As A Freelance Illustrator Based In Orlando And Was Hired By The Walt Disney Corporation To Deliver Conceptual Sketches And Designs For Its Disney World Theme Park. Later, He Moved To California To Work At Disney?s Imagineering Studio Which Designed Epcot Center And Then Gilleon Assisted In The Planning Of Disneyland Tokyo, Disneyland Hong Kong And Disneyland Paris. The American West Left A Mesmerizing Impact On Him As An Artist. Gilleon And His Wife First Built A Home Along The Dearborn River In Montana, And Later Purchased A Ranch Near Great Falls Not Far From The Legendary Old North Trail Where Native Peoples Traveled Millennia Ago From The Arctic To The Desert Southwest. Here Gilleon Found Clusters Of Teepee Rings From Encampments Which Inspire Him To Contemplate How The Camps Might Have Looked Centuries Ago.

Wichita Work by Ragan Gennusa

Lot 1401S: Wichita Work by Ragan Gennusa

by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $600 - $750

Description: Wichita Work by Ragan Gennusa - Edition Size: 25 - Giclee on Canvas - Artist Proof Dimensions: 18 x 24 Release Date: 4-2013 ???.Ragan Gennusa grew up in East Texas enjoying the outdoors and sports, but he was drawn to art and could always be found using his pencils and brushes when he had an opportunity. ?Art was just something I always enjoyed,? he recalls. Gennusa took art classes in high school, along with being an All-State quarterback, and accepted a football scholarship to the University of Texas where he played wide receiver and majored in art. Gennusa credits his training as an athlete for teaching him to value courage, tenacity, and the importance of character in pursuit of life as well as an artistic career. After college, Gennusa worked as an artist for an Austin printing company, then as a staff artist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. His talent was quickly recognized, and he was eventually promoted to art department supervisor. Although he enjoyed his job at the department, the day-to-day administrative work took its toll, and he left to paint exclusively for an Austin art gallery. This decision was a turning point in Gennusa?s career. Gallery work allowed Gennusa to develop his art. During this time, he became involved with the Gulf Coast Conservation Association, Ducks Unlimited, and other similar groups. ?I?ve been fortunate to meet a lot of people in the sporting arena who liked my art,? says Gennusa. The artist now has a thriving career painting the great outdoors and its endless sporting images; his many commissions to paint animals or the Western landscape are sought by people throughout the United States. Gennusa is well known for his longhorn paintings, some of which have been special commissions for the University of Texas, and his horse images. Wild turkeys are also one of Gennusa?s favorite subjects. Working mostly on commission, the artist very much enjoys visiting ranches throughout Texas and learning about their history, which has fostered his interest in Western and Native American themes. Gennusa has established a very successful art career and strives to keep up with the demand for his work. In 1986, he was selected the Texas State Artist, and he recently received the 2005 ?Texas Star Preservation Award? from the Gillespie County Historical Society. The artist livesin one of Texas? most picturesque regions. Gennusa says, ??after a particularly good day of painting, I walk out of my studio overlooking the beautiful Texas Hill Country, and I truly feel that I am the richest, luckiest man on earth!? ?Being an artist has made my life very rewarding. The great western artist Charles Russell said, ?Any man that can make a living doing what he likes is lucky, and I am that.?? - Ragan Gennusa

Ribbons by Cynthia Decker

Lot 1424S: Ribbons by Cynthia Decker

by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $160 - $200

Description: Ribbons by Cynthia Decker - Edition Size: Open - Open Giclee Poster Dimensions: 22.5 x 36 Release Date: 9-2012 ???.As a child, I would draw and paint at any opportunity. My Mother taught computer science at a local college, and we had a computer in the house when not very many people had home computers. With a computer instructor for a mom, and an engineer for a dad, my earliest art materials were green and white perforated computer paper, and I used to doodle on used punch cards. I began drawing on the computer ?pixel by pixel in green and black monochrome? on an Apple II computer when I was about 13. Throughout high school and college I studied and practiced drawing and design, and as the technology became available to me I started digital painting, while continuing to work in traditional media; pastels, acrylics and oils. I left college to begin a graphic design career and continued to teach myself and explore new digital media. I began using 3D software in 1998 and was immediately hooked. Initially, my portfolio was exclusively online, and I participated in many web-based galleries. People began requesting prints through my website and after doing research into fine art printing, I began creating and selling high resolution archival prints of my work in 2002. That same year I had my first solo show, and I believe it was the first show of non-photographic digital work in North Carolina.

I have been compelled by the innate power of the horse and its elegant beauty since childhood, striving to capture the raw energy and motion as well as the unique emotional connection between not only man and beast, but man and earth.I am attracted to expressive and experimental styles of working which not only generate some surprises, but also afford a sense of personal freedom.Sometimes a viewer will look twice at an image and not immediately be certain what the subject is exactly, but will definitely experience a positive feeling. I?ve had several people respond to pieces in this collection in a pure emotional fashion without even acknowledging the subject matter.Shooting photos digitally has proven to be invaluable in capturing rare moments of raw, textured forcefulness. Continuing with a vision, I work digitally to bring out the drama in a partial, painterly manner hoping to invoke feelings of an almost musical sense of connectedness.20 years of experience also include a strong background in graphic design, traditional art, artdirection, and four years of teaching at the Art Institute in Denver. Chief by Kimerlee Curyl

Lot 1467S: Chief by Kimerlee Curyl

by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $220 - $275

Description: Chief by Kimerlee Curyl - Edition Size: Open - Giclee on Canvas, Open Edition Signed Dimensions: 12 x 16 Release Date: 10-2010 ???.Loving everything "horse" for as long as she can remember, Kimerlee's life, thus far, makes perfect sense. The Hollywood dream moved her West from Minnesota, but it was the heart of a horse that changed everything. Working on both sides of the camera, Kimerlee has the natural ability of capturing emotion and delivering dramatic and evocative imagery. Her first solo show debuted in Los Angeles with record-breaking gallery sales. Her work appears in many prestigious galleries and is held in private, international collections. Kimerlee's work also has been in numerous advertising campaigns, product brandings, and magazine covers. Kimerlee works with all breeds and travels extensively to photograph some of the most beautiful horses in the world. She loves them all passionately, but a corner of her heart beats faster when it comes to America's legendary wild horses. She has spent time on the rangelands, immersed into enormous herds of wild horses, experiencing and becoming a part of their world, telling their story through expressive moments captured in time. Dedicated to the cause of the wild horses for many years, Kimerlee hopes to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of these creatures and also to take an interest in helping preserve their historic place. As a voice for these living legends, she continues to educate through art and awareness. She donates her time and efforts to Return to Freedom, American Wild Horse Sanctuary, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting over 200 wild horses and burros. Kimerlee left Los Angeles in 2009 and moved with her beautiful mare, Sequoia, to the Santa Ynez Valley surrounded and inspired daily by what she loves most, horses. The artist says, "We must be the voice for these living legends....they are our heritage. We built this great nation by holding onto their manes and riding the spirit of their hearts. To lose them would be a tragically-irresponsible disrespect to our past, present, and future."

Karen Kelly?s creative photography is presented in the contemporary style of Somerset Décor offerings. Each image is giclée printed with a solid black border on fine art canvas and stretched around 2 inch deep and solid wood bars. These museum quality matte canvas offerings are coated with a water-based semi-gloss coating to provide protection from ultra violet rays, dust, light moisture, and handling. They are designed to hang or stand without framing.

Estimated Price: $160 - $200

Description: Red Truck by Cynthia Decker - Edition Size: Open - Open Giclee Poster Dimensions: 36 x 24 Release Date: 9-2012 ???.As a child, I would draw and paint at any opportunity.

Lot 1871C: BATIA MAGAL - SISTERS

by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $320 - $480

Description: Artist: Batia Magal. Title: Sisters. Medium: Serigraph on Paper. Image Size: 30x19. Paper Size: 32x21.5. Limited Edition Size: 395. __________Artist Biography: Batia Magal was born in Israel in 1953. From childhood onwards, she displayed a marked talent for drawing and an all - embracing interest in art. It is therefore not surprising that she was accepted as a student at the Avni Art Institute, where she came under the influence of such well-known artists as Streichman and Wexler, just to name a few. Her work seems to have developed along various lines, all of which converged and fused into a very personal and feminine statement. The basic calligraphic drawing of the female figure or flower-filled vase is the centerpiece which forms the structural base of the work, to which the brilliant washes of lively colors act as a counterpoint, with the deeper and warmer hues evoking the luminosity of medieval stained-glass windows. More recently, yet another intriguing factor has been added by the introduction of fabric textures and prints of a seemingly unconnected nature, forming collages in which the three elements of drawing, color and print or fabric texture, maintain a balance which tends to emphasize the works' structural composition.
