by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $1,100 - $1,380

Description: High Kensington Street by Mark Lague - Edition Size: 15 - Giclee on Canvas - Artist Proof Dimensions: 30 x 16 Release Date: 8-2007 ???.The fast-paced pulse of urban life is the recurring theme in many of Mark Laguë?s paintings. His canvases capture the overall spirit of the city in loose, dynamic brushstrokes. The artist?s travels take him to many of the world?s most sophisticated cities where he thrives on the hustle and bustle of life that teems daily in the streets. Laguë travels to many of his favorite locations such as New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, and Paris for inspiration. One of his favorite cosmopolitan cities is Rome, Italy. The artist says, ?Rome seems to fit my aesthetic well because there is such a mix between modern life and classical architecture.? This very talented painter considers the shapes that make up the city environment a beautiful, yet abstract, composition just waiting to be put on canvas. Light is a prominent factor in Laguë?s work. His scenes of day and night life in the city are formed by the manner in which light reflects and creates interesting shapes that offer the artist an opportunity to portray the scene in a vibrant, abstract design. Night time offers the artist a wide range of contrasts?dark against light and the mixture of architectural elements offer an endless palette of color and movement waiting for Laguë to bring to life. The artist draws the viewer into the scene with a story about everyday people and life in the city?familiar things combine to form a total ?cityscape? that is an exciting, mesmerizing image to behold. A native resident of Montreal, Canada, Laguë has made the journey from a childhood talent to entering art school at age 17 to a very successful career as an animation artist at a top studio. The artist?s desire to paint on his own full-time came in 2002. He considers his technical experience in color, handling of paint, and knowing the importance of values as the solid foundation for his success. Laguë primarily works in oil, but also favors watercolor. He has won many awards, including the 2002 Award of Excellence from the Oil Painters of America; Laguë also conducts art workshops. He is widely collected and represented by several galleries around the United States. Galleries consider his work spontaneous, vibrant, and attention getting. Collectors love the subject matter, texture, energy, and light in his scenes. Join Mark Laguë on his many journeys through the urban landscape.

April 19, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Estimated Price: $780 - $980

Description: Branding the Remnants by Tim Cox - Edition Size: 950 - Canvas - Signed & Numbered Dimensions: 20 x 30 Release Date: 2-2006 ???.As a young child, Tim Cox vowed he ?was going to be a cowboy artist? when he grew up, and he has lived that dream for 30 years. Growing up in a small farming and ranching community in Arizona was a natural environment that influenced Cox?s love for being surrounded by cattle and horses and the wide open spaces. While most of the artist?s time is spent painting, he rides and works on various ranches throughout the West and also raises cattle and trains horses he owns. Cox?s everyday experience with the cowboy life is reflected in the outstanding works that he creates. He combines color, value, perspective, accuracy, and design in his scenes of the daily life of the cowboy. As a perfectionist, his attention to detail and hands-on knowledge of the cattle and horses he so loves to paint have earned the artist legends of admirers and collectors who appreciate his accurate portrayals of western life. Viewers are brought up-close and personal with the animals and people who inhabit Cox?s world. The West comes alive in his paintings. Considered one of the great western artists of our time, Cox is one of today?s most successful painters in his genre. Through the years, many accolades have been bestowed on this very talented artist, and this year Cox was asked to join the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America; he participated in the 2008 exhibition. Cox has won numerous awards for his wonderful art. In 2008, Décor magazine featured Cox as one of the 14 Most Enduring and Successful Poster Artists. In 2007, his painting, ?Good Horses and Wide Open Spaces,? won the Express Ranches Great American Cowboy Award; at this same exhibit in 2004, ?Along Eagle Creek? won the award. In 2003, the artist was honored with one of the most prestigious awards in western art at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum exhibit. Cox?s painting, ?On to Better Pastures,? won the coveted Prix de West Purchase Award. In 2001, the artist was awarded the Will Rogers Western Artist of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists and Friends of Western Art. Cox is also a three-time winner of the Olaf Wieghorst Best of Show at The Mountain Oyster Club. Tim, a fourth generation Arizonan, and his wife, Suzie, enjoy the life that the artist paints on their ranch in New Mexico that they call home. Estimated Price: $1,020 - $1,360

Description: June Carey - Imported Vines - Hand Signed - Canvas Edition -image Size: 25"w X 37"h. Limited Edition Of: 125 - "this Vine Has Evolved From The Hills Of Ancient Italy And France To The Northern California Wine Country. The Vines Themselves Are Works Of Art, Either Flowing As Green Ribbons Into Distant Valley Vistas Or In Their Twisting Close Encounters Beneath Dusty Bunches Of Ripening Berries. "in A Sense, This Portrait Of My Revered Grape Vines Is A Still Life . . . But Is It? In Their Guided Freedom They Are Not 'still,' But Rather, They Grow. In All Their Sun-drenched Glory, They Simply Do What They Do: Reach For The Light And Air, Winding Up From The Fertile Earth To Produce The Beautiful Fruit That Makes So Much Happiness. And So It Seems Their Lives Go On Forever. Can That Be Still Life?"??about The Artist - June Carey "the Little Farmhouse In Pennsylvania Where I Grew Up Was Always Alive With Singing, Laughter And A Love Of The Arts," Says Artist June Carey. "my Father, A Voice Instructor, Introduced Us To The Steady Flow Of Eccentric, Larger-than-life Characters Found In His Greatest Passion ? The Dramatic World Of The Italian Opera. Aida?s Rich Theme Always Seemed To Be Playing In The Background As I Went In Search Of A Reality I Could Call My Own, Escaping Into The Quiet Roar Of The Singing Crickets And Song Of The Meadowlark. I Could Lose Myself In The Turquoise Twilight Magic Of A Summer Evening Or Breath Of Sweet Fields Of Winter Wheat Beneath The Rising Sliver Of A Moon. I Found My True Love And Years Later Found Myself Longing For The Beautiful Fields Of My Childhood, Where Everything Was The Way It Should Be. My Passion Springs Forth Through The Beauty Of The Fertile Earth, Which Has Always Been My Real Teacher. "i Began Painting Full Time In 1982, Doing My Time As A Starving Artist While Raising My Young Son. I Was Happy To Trade This Tragic Cliché For The Happy Success Of Sell-out Gallery Shows And Award Banquets. In 1991, I Married Maritime Artist David Thimgan, And We Thrived Together. On One Late Summer Afternoon Escape, Traveling To The Mendocino Coast, I Discovered The California Wine Country. I Was So Happy To Have Found A Place In California That Reminded Me Of My Long Lost Fields Of Pennsylvania. I Painted My First Vineyard Scene In 1996 And, As Time Passed, This Interest Has Taken Me To The Countryside Of Tuscany, Where I Feel I Probably Lived In A Former Lifetime. My Italian Opera Theme Song Has Never Left My Heart, And Somehow Life Seems To Have Come Full Circle, To Connect, Again, The Passions Of My Life."

Estimated Price: $450 - $570

Description: Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries by Susan Blackwood - Edition Size: 15 - Giclee on Canvas - Artist Proof Dimensions: 20 x 24 Release Date: 7-2010 ???.Pakistan 1975: in the midst of a clambering market place, unable to speak the language...I became aware of the importance of the common bonds that universally unite us all. The necessity to communicate these visions, feelings and emotions became paramount. Art became my language. I have chosen as my subject matter the simple, beautiful touching moments that are common both in nature and in the life of every person. These are the moments that often pass without notice and are the very ones that lend continuity to our lives and contribute to its richness and depth. These moments are the language I use when I paint. As in any meaningful conversation, the structure of the message must be clear. Thus, my color, brush strokes, textures and composition are carefully chosen, like essential words, to convey to the viewer the message that I wish to impart. My studies of classical art techniques began when I was a child and will always continue as I strive for better clarity and higher achievement. As words are carefully chosen for a poem, I, too, limit my brush strokes and detail to relay just enough to give the viewer my thoughts and involve their imagination. I purposely leave areas of my paintings in mystery for the viewer to become engaged in the story. I strive for each painting to be a poem rather than a novel. Some of my loose paintings are like haiku poems that are simple impressionistic vignettes. While some of my paintings are like sonnets, more spelled out in detail. Through the medium that I have chosen, I strive continually to develop a rich and colorful dialog in a language that will reach the heart. Susan won Best of Show 2010 at the American Women Artists National Exhibition held in Dallas.

JAMES C. CHRISTENSEN - THE RICH YOUNG RULER

Lot 419W: JAMES C. CHRISTENSEN - THE RICH YOUNG RULER

by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $750 - $1,000

Description: James C. Christensen - The Rich Young Ruler - Hand Signed - Limited Edition Canvas - Image Size: 25"w X 20"h. Limited Edition Of: 550 - How Much Are You Willing To Sacrifice To Follow What You Believe? That Is The Dilemma James C. Christensen Presents In "the Rich Young Ruler." Christensen?s Most Popular Scriptural Works Have Focused On The Challenge To Live Our Faith, To Give All That We Have And To Live In A State Of Thankfulness. Just Before His Triumphal Entrance Into Jerusalem, Jesus Passed Through A Town Where A Righteous Young Man Asked Him What He Could Do To Inherit Eternal Life. The Young Man Told Jesus How He Followed The Commandments And Obeyed The Laws Of His People, But Jesus Asked Something More: ?go, Sell Everything You Have And Give To The Poor,? He Said, ?and You Will Have Treasure In Heaven. Then Come, Follow Me.? The Home Of "the Rich Young Ruler" Is Filled With Symbols Of Both His Success And His Dilemma. The Laden Camels In The Frieze In The Foreground Illustrate Jesus? Next Words To His Disciples, ?it Is Easier For A Camel To Go Through The Eye Of A Needle Than For A Rich Man To Enter The Kingdom Of God.? The Ruler Himself Is Richly Dressed In Fine Fabrics And Jewels And The Room Is Filled With Lush Plants, Which In A Desert Setting Would Be Quite Costly To Maintain. Sputtering Beside The Entrance To The Door Is The Ruler?s Lamp That, Like The Flame Of His Belief, Wavers In The Wind. These Symbols, Combined With Christensen?s Unique Style, Make "the Rich Young Ruler" An Elegant Story Of Difficult Decisions And Of A Master Who Will Always Look Back And Offer Another Chance. ?the Original Painting Was Commissioned By A Successful Businessman, Today?s Equivalent Of A Rich Young Ruler,? Says Christensen. ?he Wanted A Visual Reminder That Success Has Many Forms And That Faith Is Its Own Reward. He Wanted To Ask Himself Every Day What He Would Have Done In That Situation.???about The Artist - James C. Christensen Inspired By The World's Myths, Fables And Tales Of Imagination, James C. Estimated Price: $300 - $380

Description: In the Bronc Corral by Tim Cox - Edition Size: 950 - Print - Signed & Numbered Dimensions: 17.5 x 24 Release Date: 3-2006 ???.As a young child, Tim Cox vowed he ?was going to be a cowboy artist? when he grew up, and he has lived that dream for 30 years. Surrounded by their cattle and horses, they truly live the western life that most of us can only dream about.
