Lanarkshire Council Museum and Heritage Service hold an example by the artist titled ''Winter Sunshine'' which the work above bears a resemblance to. It is possible that the lot is the RA exhibit of 1900.

Description: A 1930's Robert ''Mouseman'' Thompson Oak Fireplace, the top with egg and dart border above five panels three with crests, York (left) Worcester (right) and the centre Ampleforth Abbey (based on Westminster Abbey from which the monk's are part descended) above a carved mantel piece and plank fire surround, with two built-in seats and fender, with two carved mice signature, 185cm by 53cm, 172cm high Made for a house built by Mrs Alexia Romanes on Ampleforth Abbey and College land called St Oswald's Cottage (named after the 11th Century Benedictine Bishop) built in around 1935 and demolished around 2000. The house was also used by the school. Mrs Romanes had two sons who were both monk's at the school, Fr Ninian who died in 1961 and Fr Andrew who died in 1960.
