Rare at auction. A variant issue with colophon on recto of f.270. An attractively printed edition of this series of Lenten sermons by one of the most celebrated preachers of the fifteenth century. He was born in Lecce, Italy, and became Bishop of Aquino in 1475; of Lecce in 1484 and again of Aquino in 1485. The type employed here was used by Renner only in 1471 and 1472. Previously Renner worked with Nicolaus de Frankfordia and then with Petrus de Bartua until 1478, thereafter he printed alone until 1483.

The back is formed of native wood, one piece, semi-slab cut, holding a faint, mostly medium figure across its breadth. The ribs and scroll are of similar wood selection to that of the back.
