3 Btls 2004 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Bourgogne Blanc

Lot 57: 3 Btls 2004 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Bourgogne Blanc

by Auctionata

November 11, 2014, 6:00 PM CET

Berlin, Germany

Estimated Price: €480 - €600

Description: Three bottles of Bourgogne BlancProduced by Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé2004 vintageBourgogne Blanc, BurgundyOriginal filling quantity: 0.75 lFill level: This lot comprises three bottles of 2004 vintage Bourgogne Blanc produced by Domaine Vogüé appellation in Burgundy. The elegance of the wines produced in this old cultivated landscape in the heart of Europe is founded on its topographic, geological and climatic disposition. The Burgundy vineyards lie at an intersection: it is where the restrained warmth of the South meets the cool crispness of the North. Due to this, the grapes can develop complexity at full maturity and still don't lose their natural freshness. This is not only true for the white Burgundy, grown from Chardonnay, but also the red Burgundy, made from Pinot noir. What makes Burgundy an exceptional wine-growing region, however, are the small, rural configurations that have caused generations of vintners to intensively grapple with the small parcels of vine-growing land in attempts to cultivate sublime wines. This continuity over centuries is brought to fruition in all of the finest Burgundy wines. The fill levels are excellent (< 2 cm). The labels are slightly damaged; the capsules are in perfect condition. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

Roberto Matta, Untitled (Centre Noeuds), etching, 1974

Lot 19: Roberto Matta, Untitled (Centre Noeuds), etching, 1974

by Auctionata US

November 16, 2014, 7:00 PM EST

New York, NY, USA

Estimated Price: $2,400 - $3,000

Description: Roberto Matta (CHILEAN, 1911-2002)Untitled (Centre Noeuds)Color etching with aquatint on Japon nacréSigned in pencil, lower rightDimensions: 14 x 10 1/2 inches (35 2/3 x 26 3/4 cm)Co-published by Editions Alexander Kahan, New York and Editions Georges Visat, ParisFrom Centre NoeudsFrench inscription from the publisher, George Visat in pencil, versoFull marginsIn overall good conditionSabatier 402Contact department for full condition reportThe tenth plate in this series of ten color etchings with aquatint, titled "Centre Noeuds," tends to be the preferred print from the group. The print's triangular composition and bright hues of green, yellow and reds, draw the viewer to the center of the piece. Matta's signature, humanlike figurines in this particular work are great examples of these commonly used forms. This color etching with aquatint on Japon nacré has an illegible annotation in French on the verso from its publisher. It is signed in pencil and measures 14 x 10 1/2 inches (35 2/3 x 26 3/4 cm). The series, "Centre Noeuds" was co-published by Editions Alexander Kahan, New York and Editions Georges Visat, Paris.Roberto Matta (CHILEAN, 1911-2002)Matta was born in 1911 in Santiago de Chile. He studied architecture in Chile and later moved to Paris where he worked for Le Corbusier. He travelled a lot across Europe and met with people like, Federico García Lorca, Salvador Dalí and André Breton, who declared him to be a Surrealist. Matta felt a connection to this group of artists even though, at first, he only wrote about architecture in a surrealistic magazine. He started painting in 1938 and immediately participated in the great Surrealism Exhibition in Paris. To avoid the war, Matta moved to New York, where he was very quickly accepted as an artist. He returned to Europe in 1948 and moved to Rome. Matta's art has always been influenced by politics and many of his drawings reflect that.
