Additionally marked ''U.S. Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co./Hartford CT.'' Condition is excellent with light carbon toning to metal surfaces. Stock with minor scuffs from light handling and minor field use. Stock has been expertly shortened under rear barrel band. Front sling swivel appears to be a somewhat later replacement. Nipple area with light erosion. Action remains crisp, bore is bright.

Woodard. This pistol is pictured in the book "Gun Engraving Review" by E.C. Prudhomme on page 54 with the caption "Both sides of Colt match target have inlaid borders and rampant colt. Scroll is in relief." and on page 283 of the 1964 Gun Digest with the caption "W.O. Woodard inlaid the rampant Colt in gold and outlined the slide, frame and barrel with gold borders. The metal work plus the custom target grips make this Colt Match Target Woodsman unique." The sides of the barrel, frame and slide are very nicely floral scroll engraved with a punch dot background. Each is also gold inlaid wire bordered.
