U.S. Model 1911A1 Pistol By Remington Rand

by Amoskeag Auction Co

June 6, 2015, 9:00 AM EST

Manchester, NH, USA

Estimated Price: $800 - $1,200

Description: serial #1748612, 45 ACP, 4 7/8 Flannery barrel with an otherwise bright excellent bore which shows some widely scattered very light oxidation or perhaps a pinprick pit here and there. The metal surfaces retain 97% arsenal grade parkerizing which is fading in spots and worn to pewter on the high edges, also with widely scattered spots here and there of some very light oxidation. The left side FJA inspector s markings are crisp and the right side ordnance wheel cartouche, while an off-set strike, is very crisp as well. The original grips have been replaced by a set of Pachmayr wrap-around and a single Risdon magazine is included. The original sights have been replaced with a micro adjustable rear sight and a serrated face National Match-style front sight and the trigger shows evidence of a one time trigger shoe attachment. A fine example overall which likely shoots extremely well, the addition of a long trigger adjustable for overtravel would doubtless improve its shootability. (37131-4)

Colt National Match Mid-Range Semi-Auto Pistol

by Amoskeag Auction Co

June 6, 2015, 9:00 AM EST

Manchester, NH, USA

Estimated Price: $800 - $1,200

Description: serial #1478-MR, 38 Special Wadcutter, 5 barrel with an excellent bore. This Mark III Mid-Range has seen honest use but was well cared for. The pistol retains about 85% original blue finish with high edge wear and thinning to gunmetal gray grip frame from handling. The checkered walnut stocks with silver Colt medallions are in near excellent condition with surprisingly light handling wear. This pistol features the Colt Elliason rear sight and the Mark III barrel with threaded chamber and includes a single magazine. Just over 9300 Mid-Range National Match guns were produced in a ten year time frame making them a seldom seen collectible. This pistol spent some time at the range punching holes in paper and would make a great shooter for Bullseye competition or just someone looking for a light recoiling pistol. (87105-15) {C&R}

U.S. Model 1911A1 Pistol By Remington Rand

by Amoskeag Auction Co

June 6, 2015, 9:00 AM EST

Manchester, NH, USA

Estimated Price: $1,200 - $1,800

Description: serial #1027400, 45 ACP, 5 barrel with a very good plus bore which is mostly bright but which shows scattered light pinprick pitting, confined mostly to the grooves. The metal surfaces on this very nice, but mismatched, government model pistol retain about 97% arsenal gray-green parkerizing with the areas of loss being only light high edge wear and some light wear along the right radius of the slide. The frame is Remington Rand and FJA inspected while the slide is a Colt Firearms Company slide, correct for the era. The pistol has been fitted with a very nice set of fully-checkered walnut target style grips, while unmarked, they are quality-made and give the appearance of having been made in a U.S. facility. The ordnance bomb at the rear of the frame remains crisp as do the balance of the inspector and proof marks. the grips are very nice and have subtle palmswell s left and right and wrap-around the front of the grip and are fully checkered, flawlessly so. A single blued Risdon-made magazine is included. A very nice government arsenal refurbed Colt-Remington 1911A1 overall. (37196-3)[George P. Hall Collection]

Phenomenal Pair Of Leonard Francolini Factory-Engraved Colt Second-Generation Percussion Revolvers With Matching Serial Numbers

by Amoskeag Auction Co

June 6, 2015, 9:00 AM EST

Manchester, NH, USA

Estimated Price: $10,000 - $15,000

Description: Colt third model dragoon serial #22478 and Colt 1851 Navy revolver serial #22478. .44 cal. and .36 cal. percussion, 7 1/2 barrels with bright excellent, unfired bores. This is an exceptionally beautiful pair of Colt second-generation percussion revolvers engraved by an undisputed master at his craft. Both revolvers retain 99% plus original Colt factory deep rich blue with color case-hardened loading levers and hammers. The dragoon has natural polished brass triggerguard and backstrap which are now toning to a nice goldenrod patina. The 1851 Navy has silver plated triggerguard and backstrap which are now tarnishing nicely with age, taking on a silvery and purple hue. Both arms are engraved in factory class B coverage in wonderful loose scroll and are further embellished with gold inlays, each with matching flush 24 karat gold serial numbers on the left side of the frame. Both guns feature flush gold wire bands at the muzzles and breeches with the Dragoon showing a chiseled-in-relief 24 karat gold inlay of the familiar Rampant Colt atop the globe. The 1851 Navy has a chiseled-in-relief 24 karat gold inlay of Sam Colt s coat of arms on its left recoil shield. Both are fitted with smooth two-piece antique ivory grips with gold Rampant Colt medallions, each with dark age crackling striations running vertically, they are as-new and unblemished. A full complement of accessories is included with the arms, each with an appropriate Colts patent powder flask, serial numbered to their respective firearms. There are two brass dual-cavity Colts patent bullet molds included, each also serial numbered to their respective revolver as are the blued nipple wrench combination tools and the blued Ely brothers percussion cap tins. This entire assemblage is cased in an oak presentation case which is lockable, oddly the key and key slot escutcheon are no longer present. The factory records are open , showing no recorded information for these two firearms but Leonard Francolini himself has written a letter of authentication verifying the fact that he did indeed engrave these arms when he was employed at Colts in the 70s and even included copies of the pulls from his workbook, that he did on each firearm after he had engraved them; he further states the casing is factory as well. These two are truly a very exceptional pair of Colt factory-engraved, matching serial numbered black powder revolvers stunningly embellished by this gifted man, worthy of the finest collection of engraved arms or fine Colt pistols.
