Description: BOOKS PHIL MAY, PARIS, EGYPT, EDUARD FUCHS (5). MAY, Phil. Phil May's Sketch Book. Fifty Cartoons. London, Chatto&Windus, 1895. 50 pl., viii pp., occas. lt. foxing, folio, pict. cl.; HAKE, A.Egmont. Paris Originals. With Twenty Etchings by Leon RichetonLondon, Kegan Paul, 1878.20 original etched plates of Parisian "types" and situations, vi.196pp., 36pp. adverts., 8vo., pictorial cloth. Two of the plates have a light waterstain on top corner, not touching image. A very good copy. The etchings are quite strange and striking, with a semi-naive quality. These appear to be Richepin's only book illustrations. Benezit merely lists him without details; ANONYMOUS [H.A.B.?]. Neilonde. An Egyptian Scrap-Book. Dublin, William Robertson, & London, Simpkin, Marshall, and Co., (1860).Illustrated titlepage, 18 illustrated leaves, printed recto only, of naive drawings, several to the page, with accompanying facsimile hand-written text under each, interleaved with protective tissues (a few tissues creased or chipped), oblong 4to, publisher's blind-stamped blue cloth with a couple of patches of discoloration, gilt titling. The comic adventures of Pooks, Brooks and Snooks on a trip to Egypt. A very uncommon book. Copac lists only 3 copies, while the British Library has only a microfilm. No library ascribes an author. The titlepage has a monogram which seems to read 'H.A.B.'; STEINLEN, (Theophile-Alexandre) Dans la vie, par Steinlen. Cent dessins en couleurs. Avant propos de Camille de Sainte-Croix. ['Septieme edition' on illustrated wrapper - dubious] Paris: Edition H. Piazza et Cie, Sevin et Rey, Libraires, 1901100 colour plates of Parisian 'types' and 'moments' with captions, 8pp., green edges, original colour-illustrated wrappers bound in, 8vo., near-contemporary half straight-grain morocco and patterned paper boards, an elegant Scandinavian(?) binding. A near fine copy; FUCHS, Eduard. Die Karikatur der europaischen Volker. Vierte vermehrte auflage. Two volumes complete. Munchen, Albert Langen, 1921. Vol. 1: 76 plates, many double-page or folding and in colour, 500 illustrations in text, (16),479pp. Vol. 2: 73 plates, 515 illustrations, (12),488pp. 4to., half red calf, decorated paper boards, neatly rebacked with original spines laid over. Front board paper on vol.2 rubbed, endpapers of both vols. spotted, but generally very good copies. Number 46 of a specially bound edition of the first 100 copies on 'kunstdruckpapier' (glossy paper). This fourth expanded edition is the best. The first volume covers from ancient times to 1848, the second from 1848 to the eve of the First World War.

Description: Rare pipe en terre blanche provenant du navire « Le Chameau » Tuyau marqué « Queens Buffalo William ». Inc. (affiliatedwith Sotheby's and Co London) 980 Madison Avenue, New York, n°12.(reproduit).
