CASSAS h: 38,20 w: 51,50 cm Commentaire : En 1784, Louis François Cassas rencontre le comte de Choiseul-Gouffier, nouvellement nommé ambassadeur auprès de la Sublime Porte (Empire ottoman). Le diplomate est alors à la recherche d'un dessinateur expérimenté pour l'accompagner sur les rives du Bosphore afin de relever des cartes, des vues de monuments et des représentations de costumes. Cassas accepte cette charge qui le conduira après la Turquie, à Chypre, en Syrie, au Liban, en Phénicie, en Palestine, en Basse Egypte et en Libye. La dissertation de Chambon dénote de " sérieuses qualités d'esprit ", mais il lui reste à " étendre ces connaissances un peu livresques et à les vivifier par une réflexion plus personnelle et par une philosophie plus directement en contact avec les préoccupations des intelligences et des âmes contemporaines ". Chambon est isolé à Grasse, et Blondel lui conseille de lire des revues philosophiques, et des ouvrages " autres que des manuels ou que des livres de vulgarisation "... 17 avril. Il a lu sa dissertation sur la liberté, travail sérieux mais encore un peu trop scolaire ; Blondel lui reproche de traiter ce thème trop dans son ensemble, sans l'approfondir et sans point de vue psychologique et subjectif : " vous restez trop dans la perspective des connaissances conceptuelles ou objectives qui masquent souvent "les données immédiates de la conscience". Malgré ces imperfections [...] votre dissertation m'a laissé une impression favorable et encourageante. Quant à la question de la Liberté, en Dieu, il n'est pas étonnant qu'elle vous embarrasse après avoir embarrassé les plus grands esprits. Quand je me suis présenté au Baccalauréat à Dijon M. Henri JOLY, qui était alors doyen de la faculté de Lettres, nous avait proposé ce sujet qui laisserait perplexe plus d'un candidat actuel : "En quoi consiste le désaccord de St Thomas et de Dun Scot, de Leibniz et de Descartes sur la théorie de la Volonté et de l'Entendement en Dieu ?" - La vraie liberté n'est pas l'indifférence, le libre arbitre, c'est l'accord intime de la raison & de l'activité ", etc. 6 juillet. Since the beginning, the Maison created innovative pieces of jewelry, inspired by the flora and fauna, often characterized by innovative shapes and extravagant color combination as seen in their 'Tutti Frutti' signature style. In addition to exquisite floral motifs Cartier has conceived a fanciful menagerie including exotic birds caught in full flight, sacred creatures from ancient Egypt, wondrous chimeras and fierce felines. The typical Panthère motif was first introduced in 1914 with a women's watch, in 1935 with a ring for the Duchess of Windsor and was later transformed into the famous jewelry series 'Panthère de Cartier'. The theme was significantly developed by Jeanne Toussaint, nicknamed 'La Panthère', who was the creative director of Fine Jewelry from 1933 and as a metaphor of femininity the panther remains an icon of the House of Cartier. In addition to jewelry and watches, Cartier offers a wide range of various leather goods, perfumes, pens, lighters, sunglasses and all sorts of accessories. In 2009, Lyra Garcellano has created two series of works titled Old Pain and Nessun Dorma (None Shall Sleep) depicting male and female figures lying comatose on the ground with their limbs splayed out in a state of helplessness. The latter series is inspired by the aria Nessun Dorma from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot. Lyra Garcellano presents paintings that are somnolent and dreamy. Painted in sepia-tone, her choice of palette enhances nostalgic quality portraying vulnerability and despair. Lyra Abueg Garcellano graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies (1994) and from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2000).
