HAND MADE WOODEN Titanic Painted Large W/COA

Lot 186143972: HAND MADE WOODEN Titanic Painted Large W/COA

by LA Gems & Diamonds

July 31, 2014, 8:15 AM PST

Los Angeles, CA, USA

Estimated Price: $1,500 - $2,000

Description: HAND MADE WOODEN Titanic Painted Large W/COA **|**|** In May 1911, Titanic was launched, which was a heavily publicized spectacle. Unfortunately, at 11:40 pomp on the 14th April 1912, the greatest maritime disaster in history began. During that night of heroism, terror and tragedy, 705 lives were saved, 1502 lives were lost, and many legends were born. Master craftsmen handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plan. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. The model is painted in red, black, and white to represent the original colors of Titanic. You can find hundreds of intricate details on this model. All lifeboats are meticulously handcrafted from wood. All riggings are accurately built according to scale. The intricate pieces such as: the crane, anchors, stanchions, windows, ladders, steam pipes, and skylight really make this model a master piece. The model comes with an attached wood base with a brass nameplate. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

by Artistic Holdings Company

August 2, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Estimated Price: $5,250 - $6,562

Description: R. Tom Gilleon - Indian Sunset Ii - Hand Signed - Extra Large Canvas Edition - Image Size: 74"w X 37"h. Limited Edition Of: 25?.?'indian Sunset' Is Also A Double Entendre Representative Of Not Only The Painting?s Strong Visual, But Of The Decline In The Indian Way Of Life,? Tom Gilleon Explains. ?i Have Such Respect For Them As A People. My Goal Is That My Work Conveys The Beauty Of Their World And Their Deep-rooted Connection To It. ?the Painting Is Partially Inspired By The Elton John Song 'indian Sunset' As Well. It Is A Compassionate Song And The Story He Tells Of The Fall Of A Young Warrior Comes Across Even Though The Facts In The Song Aren?t Necessarily Correct. What Is Important Is The Emotion The Music Creates And That?s How He Approaches His Work. ?i Do Things A Little Like Elton And Try To Not Let The Facts Get In The Way Of A Good Story. I?m A Little More Visual Than Historical. Many Of The Designs I Put On The Outside Of A Tipi Would More Often Have Been Adorning The Inside. I Exaggerate Certain Things Like The Scale Of The Sun. It Would Never Appear This Large, But It Is A Central Element To The Story. Native American Art Does The Same. If It Is Important, Emphasize It. ?color Is Another Powerful Component. I Am Looking For Vibrancy And Impact And Try Not To Second Guess A Brushstroke. I?m Painting With More Confidence. I Feel Like I?m Getting Closer To How I Painted At Age Four.? "indian Sunset Ii" Is A Prime Example Of The Iconic Work That Has Driven So Many Of Tom Gilleon?s Fine Art Editions To Sold Out Status. His Seamless Blend Of Contemporary Graphic Art And Classic Representational Storytelling Has Collectors Snatching Them Up As Quickly As We Release Them. Both Editions Are Low In Number And Are Designed To Be Displayed As Contemporary Gallery Wrapped Items. Order Your "indian Sunset Ii" Before The Opportunity To Own This Outstanding Work Of Art Disappears Over The Horizon.

Imagine Having Grown Up In One Of Those Small Midwestern Towns And What It Is Like To Decide It Is Time To Leave That Small-town Life Behind?? Asks Steve Hanks. ?i Think We All Want To Believe We Would Take The Road Less Traveled, But Are We Prepared For The Inclement Weather Or The Time That May Pass Before Opportunity Offers Us A Ride? Certainly, This Girl Radiates Inner Confidence And Everything About Her, Right Down To Her Off-beat Clothes, Represents One Who Would Choose To Take The Road Less Traveled.? One Of The Unique Qualities Of This Work Is That That The Original Was A Watercolor Painted On Clayboard®. The Paints Sit On Top Of The Clayboard® Surface Rather Than Being Absorbed Into It As It Does With Traditional Watercolor Paper. The Sharper Color This Creates Comes Alive All The More When Varnished, A Technique Watercolorists Don?t Have The Chance To Employ.
