TWILIGHT FIRE BY JIM HANSEL

Lot 49S: TWILIGHT FIRE BY JIM HANSEL

by Artistic Holdings Company

July 26, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $650 - $820

Description: Twilight Fire By Jim Hansel - Edition Size: 50 - Giclee On Canvas - Artist Proof Dimensions: 12 X 24 Release Date: 11-2009 ???.jim Hansel Is A Very Talented Artist Who Has Achieved Success By Overcoming Special Challenges To Create His Beautiful Paintings. At A Young Age, Hansel Demonstrated His Artistic Ability; Throughout His Life, He Never Swayed From His Dream Of Becoming An Artist. As Long As The Artist Can Recall, His Love Of Wildlife And The Outdoors Have Inspired His Work So He May Share His Vision Of Nature?s Wonders. The World Hansel Paints Is Not Always The World He Sees. At The Age Of Twelve, He Was Diagnosed With A Degenerative Eye Condition, Which Has Left Him Legally Blind. Mastering His Visual Limitations, He Has Learned To Create Beautifully-detailed Images With Magnification And Low-vision Aids. Working Only One Or Two Inches Away From The Canvas, Hansel Painstakingly Paints In The Details Of A Work, While Forming In His Mind A Clear Picture Of The Finished Painting. Hansel Also Relies On His Camera To Capture His Ideas And Bring Them Into Focus. He Uses Photographs To Bring The Landscapes And The Wildlife Models Back To His Studio. At This Stage Of Starting A Painting, He Enlarges The Photographs, If Necessary, To See Them More Clearly. Amazingly, The Artist Then Gazes Through His Glasses And Commences His First Brush Strokes As His Painting Comes To Life A Few Square Inches At A Time. Hansel?s Visual Challenges Require Him To Spend More Time On A Painting Adding His Details Than Many Artists?.sometimes Working Four Months On A Single Canvas. Hansel Wants His Artwork To Be Judged On Its Own Merit, Not On The Basis Of An Artist With A Visual Impairment. This Determination And Being Blessed With A Talent To Create His Outstanding Images Have Brought Him National Recognition. Since His First Print Release In 1987, He Has Produced Nearly 100 Limited Editions, And Many Have Sold Out. The Artist?s Attention To Detail And Distinctive, Colorful Landscapes Are Very Popular With Art Collectors Nationwide. Hansel Credits His Wife, Lois, His Most Ardent Supporter, With Much Of The Success Of His Art. Since Their Marriage, Lois Has Been Involved In The Production Of The Artist?s Prints To Ensure The Highest Possible Quality. Their Family Also Includes Two Children, Joe And Laura. Hansel Has Received National Recognition And Numerous Awards For His Wonderful Art. He Has Been Commissioned To Create Several Paintings For Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, And The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. His Limited Edition Prints Are Successful Fundraisers For Various Conservation Organizations. Hansel Also Has Been Honored With Many Other Awards Throughout His Career. Jim Hansel?s Art And His Success Are Living Testimony To The Rewards Of Hard Work And Perseverance Regardless Of Life?s Challenges.

PASSAGE AT FALLING WATERS BY MARTIN GRELLE

Lot 121S: PASSAGE AT FALLING WATERS BY MARTIN GRELLE

by Artistic Holdings Company

July 26, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $3,500 - $4,375

Description: Passage At Falling Waters By Martin Grelle - Edition Size: 15 - Giclee On Canvas - Artist Proof Dimensions: 32 X 40 Release Date: 1-2014 ???.whether Painting The Native Americans In A Dramatic, Picturesque Setting, Or The American Cowboy In The Dusty Cattle-working Pens, Martin Grelle Captures The Spirit, Beauty, And Vastness Of The West In His Historically-accurate, Compelling Images. Grelle Studies Diligently To Portray The Diverse Cultures Of The American West Accurately And With Sensitivity. His Knowledge Of The Cowboy?s Way Of Life, Gained From His Time Spent Horseback On Ranches During The Annual Cowboy Artists Of America?s (caa) Trail Ride, As Well As The Time Spent With Local Ranchers And Friends, Is Evident In His Contemporary Cowboy Paintings. The Many Hours Spent In Museums, At Historical Re-enactments, In Visiting With Experts On Native American Culture, And Reading From His Extensive Library, Have Helped Him To Bring His Vision Of The Plains Indian Culture To Life On Canvas. Grelle Was Born When His Family Lived On A Small Farm A Few Miles From The Small, Central Texas Town Of Clifton, Which He Still Calls Home Today. This Beautiful And Historic Area Has Become A Mecca For Artists, Including Many Of Grelle?s Close Friends. They All Enjoy Getting Together To "talk Art?, Critique Each Other?s Work, And Exchange Ideas. Many Of Them, Including Grelle, Teach Annual Workshops Through A Local Art Facility Known As The Bosque Conservatory, Which Has Begun To Have A National Presence. Grelle Treasures This Feeling Of Community And The Opportunities He Is Afforded Living In Such A Creative Environment. The Artist?s Talents Were Evident As A Child And He Began Painting At An Early Age. Luckily For The Budding Painter, Acclaimed Western Artists James Boren And Melvin Warren Had Settled In The Same Area While He Was In School. With Excellent Guidance From James Boren, A Full-time Artist Was Born In His Early Twenties. Since Then, Grelle Has Studied And Traveled Widely To Seek Subject Matter For His Work. Working Primarily In Oils On Canvas, The Artist?s Figures And Landscape Become One In A Painterly Style Rich In Vibrant Color And Narrative. For More Than 30 Years Grelle Has Made A Career Of His Art, And Has Won Awards Of Both Regional And National Importance. In 1995, He Was Elected To The Cowboy Artists Of America, And He Is One Of The Younger Active Members. He Is Currently Serving His Second Term On The Board Of Directors For That Organization, And Participates In The Annual Caa Exhibition And Sale At The Phoenix Art Museum Each October. Grelle Won The Caa People?s Choice Award In 2002, For His Painting Monarchs Of The North, And The Ray Swanson Memorial Award In 2008, For His Painting Newlyweds. He Has Also Been Privileged To Participate In Other Major Juried Shows Across The United States. Included In That List Are The Prix De West Invitational Art Exhibition And Sale At The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, Which He Has Participated In Each Year Since 1995, The Masters Of The American West Fine Art Exhibition & Sale At The Autry National Center, And The Inaugural Quest For The West Exhibition & Sale At The Eiteljorg Museum. Awards Of Merit Include The Prix De West Purchase Award, Which He Won In 2002 For His Painting Teller Of Tales, And Again In 2005, For His Painting Two Coups, Making Him One Of Only 6 Artists To Have Won The Top Award Twice. Grelle Has Also Won Twice The Nona Jean Hulsey Ramsey Buyer?s Choice Award At Prix De West, First In 2004 With Signs Along The Snake, And Again In 2006, For Dust In The Distance. The Artist Is Represented By Overland Gallery Of Fine Art, In Scottsdale, Arizona, Where A One-man Show Is Held For Grelle Each March. The 2008 Show Marked Grelle?s 20th Anniversary One-man Show With The Gallery. The Artist Has Been Profiled In A Number Of Publications, Including The Magazines Art Of The West, Western Art Collector, Southwest Art, Western Art & Architecture, Persimmon Hill, American Cowboy, Western Horseman, Wild West, And Informart. His Work Has Also Been Showcased On The Covers Of Many Of These Publications. Grelle Says Humbly, "i Thank God For The Ability And The Opportunities He Has Given Me, And I Hope I Can Continue To Grow And Learn More With Each Finished Painting. I Am Honored By Everyone Who Collects My Work, And I Will Always Strive To Create Artwork Worthy Of Their Attention, And Their Investment.?

Description: Bear Wonder By Kathryn Fincher - Edition Size: Open - Canvas - Open Edition Dimensions: 12 X 16 Release Date: 9-2002 ???.kathryn Andrews Fincher Says That Painting Is Not Only Her Profession, But Also Her Passion, And Portraying Children And Their Fascinating Expressions Has Become Her Consuming Inspiration. Although A Student Of Art Since Her Teens, Fincher Was In Her Early Thirties Before Painting Replaced Professional Water Skiing As Her Career. (she Was Once The Number-two-ranked Trick Skier In The Nation.) Fincher?s Mother, A Portrait Artist, Continually Encouraged Her Daughter To Paint Faces, Which Seemed To Work In Contrast To The Young Painter?s Desires. Fincher Commenced Her Painting Career With A Primary Focus On Wildlife And Landscapes; However, After She Painted Her First Child?s Face In The Image Titled ?first Look?, The Artist Had Found Her Niche. As The Artist Explains, ?children, With Their Many Discoveries And Expressions, And Their Constant Developmental Changes In The Very Early Years, Are A Wealth Of Visual Stories?i Fall In Love Time After Time With The Faces Of My Own Children And Those Of Family And Friends. ?when I Discovered That One Little Shadow Or Slight Change Of The Angle In A Child?s Mouth Could Change And Entire Expression, I Was Hooked,? Admits Fincher. ?i?m Not Interested In Painting Unrealistic, Perfect Children Sitting Up Straight With Their Knees Together, But Rather That Moment When A Child Is Consumed With Studying Something Or On The Brink Of A New Discovery.? Fincher?s Goal Is To Avoid Painting The Obvious. It Is The Expressions On Children?s Faces When They Are On The Brink Of Experiencing Something New That The Artist Strives To Capture. Even The Wonderment Of Viewing Life In Different Forms ? Such As Insects And Fish ? Can Be Fascinating. ?i Love To Tell Stories, And What Better Avenue Than Through The Face Of A Child,? Says The Artist. Upon Close Observation, You Will Find Inspiration N Each Of The Artist?s Captivating Images. Her Children Will Touch You And Give You The Opportunity To Return To That Spirit Of Youth And Innocence Each Of Us So Fondly Remembers.
