Nightmare On Elm Street 5 Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) Full Hero Costume

Lot 12: Nightmare On Elm Street 5 Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) Full Hero Costume

by Premiere Props

October 25, 2014, 11:00 AM PST

El Segundo, CA, USA

Estimated Price: $10,000 - $12,000

Description: Nightmare On Elm Street 5 Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) Full Hero Costume - Few horror franchises of the last 30 years has the staying power of "A Nightmare On Elm Street". From Wes Craven's original 1984 feature (starring a very young Johnny Depp, and of course Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger), the sight of the crooked-toothed, facially scared Freddy invading innocents dreams has become part of our American gothic lexicon. And perhaps the most iconic is his costume, from the beat-up Fedora, to the red-and-dark-green stripped sweater, black pants, to the industrial boots. From the original film to over a half dozen sequels, TV series, video games, remakes and now a brand new "Nightmare" in development, one image remains, and that is of Freddy in this iconic costume. So sought after are his actual hero screen worn costumes, that recently a hero screen worn Freddy sweater was purchased and then cut up into two-inch squares, and packaged into dozens of Plexiglas boxes. It sold out immediately. Therefore a full outfit, let alone just the sweater, is one of the most coveted collectables in horror film history. This is just that. A full hero screen worn Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) costume from "head to foot". It includes one of his hero screen worn fedoras, hero screen worn sweaters, hero screen worn pants, and hero screen worn boots. They all come from "A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child" (1989). This extremely rare full hero ensemble comes from the personal collection of legendary Special Effects Coordinator Andre G. Ellingson, who worked on many of the "Nightmares", including "Dream Child" (which he also acted in), as well as "New Nightmares", and the complete "Freddy's Nightmare" TV series. Andre is also known for his work on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", and is now the Special Effects Coordinator for the smash hit TV series "Criminal Minds". The full hero costume comes with a Letter of Provenience from Andre, as well as copies of some of his personal photographs from the set. Special note: Andre Ellingson will be at our Fangoria Auction in person and on camera to discuss this outfit and his other great items from his personal collection.

He was self-taught, with an exceptional talent for color as evidenced by the large archive of original sketches he produced. Hammered gold, animal motifs, opaque enamels and bold color combinations - like coral and jade, or carved crystal with black onyx - were all trademarks of his bold designs, which are instantly recognizable. Upon his untimely death at the age of 50, the business was carried on by Nina Silberstein, originally his accountant and then business partner, and her family. In 2009 the firm was purchased by a group of estate jewelers/investors who continue his artistic legacy. David Webb jewelry has always been produced in its own workshops on their own premises in Manhattan, as it is today. Recently, the first retrospective exhibition of his work was held at The Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach, accompanied by the publication of a book, "David Webb: The Quintessential American Jeweler", by Ruth Peltason. A pair of Peking glass bottle vases, 18th century,

Lot 18: A pair of Peking glass bottle vases, 18th century,

by Dreweatts & Bloomsbury

November 10, 2014, 11:00 AM GMT

London, United Kingdom

Estimated Price: £12,000 - £14,000

Description: A pair of Peking glass bottle vases, 18th century, of opaque pink colour, bearing globular body, straight foot and a long, slightly tapering, cylindrical neck, 23.5cm high. Originating from The Peking Glass Factory, established in the Imperial City by the Jesuit missionary Kilian Stumpf (1655-1720), this vase was a fine example of the pieces produced during the 18th century. Pair of vases in this colour are rather rare to find. It is quite possible that the vases may have been reserved for use by the Emperor or a member of his households. Purplish colours characterise wisteria, a favoured flower by Qianlong. In Imperial china, the purple colour was in fact associated with the North Star, ziweixing, believed to be at the centre of the Cosmos and thus, by extension, to the Imperial city, known in fact as the Purple Forbidden city, and the Imperial Family, thought of being at the centre of the universe. For reference on Peking glass see Rawson, The British Museum book on Chinese glass, 1992, fig 144, p. 193; The Asian Art Museum San Francisco, A chorus of colors: Chinese glass from three american collections, 1995. For comparable examples see Brown and Rabiner, The Robert H. Clague Collection: Chinese Glass of the Qing dynasty, 1960, p. 36-37; The Oriental Art Gallery, Oriental works of art, 1995, n. 129.

Nightmare On Elm Street 5 Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) Screen Used Blade-Glove Prop

Lot 11: Nightmare On Elm Street 5 Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) Screen Used Blade-Glove Prop

by Premiere Props

October 25, 2014, 11:00 AM PST

El Segundo, CA, USA

Estimated Price: $7,000 - $10,000

Description: Nightmare On Elm Street 5 Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) Screen Used Blade-Glove Prop - In the epic horror series of "Nightmare On Elm Street" films and TV series, scared and crazed serial killer Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) uses a glove, crudely fashioned with long razor-blades that jut out over its leather finger tips, to kill his victims in their dreams, which in turn causes their deaths in the real world. Few murder props have the visual power and recognizability as this iconic weapon. It has been replicated more than virtually any other horror prop. However actual hero screen worn versions are extremely rare. Throughout the series of films and TV series, many variations and versions of the gloves were made for production. In fact, within each production, numerous gloves were fashioned, both for the stunt sequences, the "walk-around" scenes, specialty and close-up shots, and for special effects, including sparking of the blades against a wall, and force-feeding a turkey dinner (with one of the blades becoming a spoon) to a troubling young lady! It is said that the inspiration of the glove came from creator-writer-director Wes Craven, as he watched his cat attacking his furniture in his house with "deadly claws"! This is one of those actual hero screen used gloves from "A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child" (1989). It was most likely used in one of the large action sequences. This extremely rare hero glove comes from the personal collection of legendary Special Effects Coordinator Andre G. The beautifully detailed glove, in excellent condition, comes with a Letter of Provenience from Andre, as well as copies of some of his personal photographs from the set. Special note: Andre Ellingson will be at our Fangoria Auction in person and on camera to discuss this hero glove and his other great items from his personal collection. Glove with blades are approx 14"x5".

Description: DE L'ORME (P.).
