Provenance: Henry Stern Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana. Selected by designer Mark Hampton to be the focal point in the dining room of the New Orleans, Louisiana, home of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Henderson.

Condition Report: Spectacular Derby service in a rare pattern. No evidence of wear due to actual use. Parcel-gilt with very scattered rubbing, primarily to the rim edges. Very scattered surface scuffs and losses to the enamel, probably due to stacking. Areas of "orange peel" (some with incorporated "dirt") to the glaze on some (undersides only). NOTE: The hairlines and chips noted below are old. Restorations were professionally rendered over time. DINNER PLATES: Two with fine craquelure. Three with some discoloration (one of these with a hairline from the rim edge along with a flake chip). Seven with small flake chips underneath the rim edge (one of these plates with two chips). One with a hairline through the foot into the rim, two with hairlines at the rim (one very faint) and one with a firing crack along with a small hairline from the foot and a hairline near the rim. One with a restoration from the rim into the recessed center. A nick or minor wear to the foot here and there. NESTING PLATTERS: All with some degree of discoloration. Small: Restoration. Medium: Very faint hairline within one end of the foot (not visible on the top surface). Large: Areas of darkened, pronounced craquelure within the recessed center along with general discoloration. A small flake chip at the rim edge. TWO SAUCE TUREENS: Restoration to both handles and tiny nicks to the tips. Small, faint hairline at rim of one bowl and two faint hairlines at the rim of the other. 1-1/2" hairline to edge of one underplate. SOUP TUREEN: Restoration to the top handle. A 4" hairline from the flange up into the dome. Firing anomalies and restorations to the bowl handles. ***All of the above consistent with age.
