Extremely animated pose featuring the head back over the right shoulder with the bill gently tucked under the raised right wing. Left wing is dropped in an arch along the side of the bird. Both wings have beautifully carved primaries. Tail is slightly curved with fluted feather detail. Webbed right foot protrudes from side to grasp the bark mount. Paint is thickly applied with nicely blended detail. Overall excellent condition. Noted on side of mount under the left breast: "Sunbathing - Lem Ward - 1969 - 1 of 50".
