Description: Polychrome colors on linen Tibet, 19th century Lama in the center of a large mandala depiction Radially arranged Buddha figures, framed by a circle Further deities in the background, partly embedded in clouds Fine landscape with trees and buildings Rich imagery in intense colors Image size: 46 x 33 cm Good condition Provenance: Private collection, Germany Object is regular taxed. 19% VAT is added to the purchase price for deliveries within the EU.Thangka A Thangka (Tibetan: ka thang, thang ga) is a scroll painting of Tantric Buddhism. It is used for meditation in temples or in home shrines and processions. Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, guardian deities, Arhats, various lamas, ascetics and Pandits in various incarnations are portrayed in scenes of their life. Often they depict mandalas with the wheel of life as well as lines of tradition. Thangkas are created according to well-defined iconographic rules (in terms of body shape, dress and attitude of the sitter), and are particularly common in Tibet. Condition: The Thangka is in good condition with usual age related signs of use, such as creases and color wear. The image measures 46 x 33 cm. Description: Gouache on fabric, heightened with gold Tibet, 20th century Thangka with a black ground Deity framed by various goddess Brown red silk brocade frame with embroidery With a silk throw Verso with remains of a wax seal Image size: 56 x 44 cm Total dimensions: 87 x 62 cm Good condition This Tibetan thangka has a black ground, was made with gouache on fabric and is heightened with gold. The shapes and colors of a thangka are predetermined, as it is bound to precise defined iconographic rules. Here the deity Vajrakila is pictured with his consort in Yab-yum. The figures have a blue skin color and embody the transcendence of duality and coalescence of opposite. A flaming aureole as well as other deities surround the presentation. The work comes in a brown red silk brocade frame with embroidery and a silk throw. Verso with remains of a wax seal. Condition: The thangka is in good condition with light signs of age and use. Small creases and minimal color wear are partly visible. The image has a size of 56 x 44 cm and a total dimension is 87 x 62 cm. Thangka A Thangka (Tibetan: ka thang, thang ga) is a scroll painting of Tantric Buddhism. It is used for meditation in temples or in home shrines and processions. Description: Elegant and rare Thangka from Eastern Tibet where there is a partial Chinese influence, depicting the red Yoginī, Vajravārāhī (Rdo-rje-phang-mo). Her legs are in an arch position cāpasthāna and she holds a kapāla and a kartika. The magic wand khaṭvāṅga rests on the left shoulder. Around her are fourteen other figures, four of which are Yoginī belonging to her class. In the lower left three irate figures are portrayed: Svayambhū-rājñī (Raṅ-byuṅ-rgyal-mo), AjitaMahākāla (Mi-pham Mgon-po) and Vajrasādhu (Dam-can Rdo-rje-legs-pa) astride a goat. In the upper section of the composition, partially consumed, one can just distinguish Adibuddha Vajradhara as the topmost figure with to his right the seated Master Milarepa and probably the XIII Karmapa, DudulDorje (1733-1798 circa). hxl 39,5 x 27,5 cm

Description: Thangka with a pictorial style that denotes a syncretism between Hinduism and Buddhism that is typical in Nepal. the portrayed figure, in virtue of this fusion is not immediately recognisable to the usual iconographic representations. It could be a particular representation of the red-skinned Avalokiteśvara called Shristhikantha, here portrayed in a variant with sixteen faces and numerous arms.
