John Gotti - American Mobster - Autographed Handwritten Letter (ALS) 2000

Lot 18: John Gotti - American Mobster - Autographed Handwritten Letter (ALS) 2000

by JG Autographs

March 7, 2015, 2:00 PM EST

Danvers, MA, USA

Estimated Price: $2,500 - $4,000

Description: John Joseph Gotti, Jr. (October 27, 1940 – June 10, 2002), American mobster and boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City, authentic, autographed handwritten letter (ALS), five pages, postmarked April 11, 2000. Known as "Dapper Don" for his flamboyant mannerisms and "Teflon Don" for his continuous evasion of the law, Gotti was finally convicted on charges of murder and racketeering in 1992. He received life without parole, and succumbed to cancer in federal prison in June of 2002. In a lengthy letter to Barbara DeCicco, daughter of mobster George DeCicco, longtime Capo in the Gambino crime family, Gotti writes from federal prison, in part: In part, "I'm happy that everything went well with [Barbara’s daughter] Gina’s surgery and that she healed as you put it 'beautifully.' As for the doctor being amazed – tell him its her good blood lines – and its great that she mat be interning with that accounting firm…As for your Sisters 6th Anniversary – I agree with everything you wrote. The 18th was my Franks 20th. As for that 'yellow weasel,' no I wasn't surprised – and I'm sure you could tell me things that would more than make my hair stand on end – the Government and him are 'birds of a feather,' and they deserve one another. I wont go any further on that punk … John's wife Kim is expecting in three weeks. It will be their 5th. John is well, as is the other 'Knuckle head' my son-in-law. As for me, I feel great! Of course there is no shortage of aggravation and craziness…" Measuring approximately 8.5 x 11, this letter is in fine condition.
