USA Flag Embroidery Macrame, Hooked Mounted Rug

by North Bayshore Antiques

June 3, 2015, 8:00 PM EST

Milton, DE, USA

Estimated Price: $550 - $750

Description: This is a one of a kind American folk art handmade patriotic rug of a 48 star U.S. flag from New England circa 1918. On July 4,1912, the U.S. flag grew to 48 stars with the addition of Arizona and New Mexico. Executive Order of President Taft dated June 24, 1912 established the proportions of the flag and provided for arrangement of the stars in six horizontal rows of eight each, a single point of each star to be upward. This flag was official for 47 years, longer than any other flag, through two world wars and the emergence of the United States of America as the leading nation of the world. Eight presidents served under this flag. A new wave of patriotism emerged when the U.S. entered into WWI that was symbolized by Uncle Sam. The folk art flag rug was made using a fine cotton type cord or thread and there is a handmade fringe that finishes the border. The folk art flag rug has been professionally framed and mounted.

Condition Report: The folk art flag rug in Excellent Condition and is pristine and clean.
