Born in Normandy toa Ukrainian mother and an Italian father, Yolande Ardissone left home at age seventeen to study in Paris at the Ecole des Art Appliques and also at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere. Two years later she studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and worked in the Atelier of Unterstellar. Following her Parisian study she traveled extensively, visiting Italy, Spain, Algeria, Holland, Indonesia, Egypt, Haiti, China Thailand, Russia and other countries. Although her travels have taken her to countries around the globe, her primary influence was Brittany, France. The bright colors of her cheerful canvasses show influence from Renoir, Gauguin and particularly Van Gogh. Some of her paintings seem to have been directly influenced from works by Monet. Her paintings are characteristically decorative with a lively, colorful palette. Her landscapes are owned by several museums and private collections. The Ville de Paris awarded her the Silver Medal for her achievements.
