        Enrico d'ASSIA. Archipelago of Silene II. 1959. Gouache on paper [28 x 67,5 cm], under glass, frame, title and signature on the back of the frame. Very beautiful surrealist composition representing islands covered with bunches of grapes. Son of the Landgrave of Hesse, Henri de Hesse-Cassel, Enrico d'Assia in Italian (1927-1999), was a painter and theater designer. He is the author of a singular work influenced by surrealism, restoring a universe close to that of Magritte. He published in 1961 an album of twenty-seven compositions in color with a text by Jean Giono. Stamp of the gallery Charpentier for the exhibition "Surrealism, sources - history - affinities" of 1964 (catalog n° 322). Archipel de Silène II. 1959. Gouache sur papier [28 x 67,5 cm], sous verre, cadre, titre et signature au verso du cadre. Très belle composition surréaliste figurant des îles recouvertes de grappes de raisins. Fils du landgrave de Hesse, Henri de Hesse-Cassel, Enrico d'Assia en italien (1927-1999), était peintre et décorateur de théâtre. Il est l'auteur d'une oeuvre singulière influencée par le surréalisme, restituant un univers proche de celui de Magritte. Il a publié en 1961 un album de vingt-sept compositions en couleurs avec un texte de Jean Giono. Cachet de la galerie Charpentier pour l'exposition “Le Surréalisme, sources - histoire - affinités” de 1964 (catalogue n° 322).

Wallestein, opera di Friederich Schiller in tre atti, è una delle tragedie che vedranno il contributo di D'Assia come scenografo e costumista e questa tempera, probabile studio di costume, ne è un esempio.
