(3) Thomas Baker (1809–1864) was a British landscape painter who is often associated with the Birmingham School of artists. He is sometimes referred to as (Baker of Leamington) because of his long association with Leamington Spa, where he lived and worked for much of his life. Baker is known for his detailed and idyllic depictions of the English countryside. Baker's style is characterised by careful attention to natural detail and a soft, harmonious colour palette. His landscapes are often tranquil and picturesque, reflecting the Romantic idealisation of nature that was popular in the 19th century. He was meticulous in his depiction of foliage, water, and the effects of light, which added a sense of realism and depth to his works. Baker of Leamington was a central figure in the art scene of Victorian Birmingham, co-founding the Birmingham Society of Arts in 1843. Several of his works are in the collection of the Leamington Spa Art Gallery.
