      del Banco, painting

      Est: -

del Banco, Alma. 1862-1943 Hamburg Dorf auf Klippen am Meer. Um 1932. Öl auf Leinwand, 71 x 49,5 cm. Ohne Rahmen. Village on top of the cliffs. Oil on canvas around 1932. Unsigned. Lit.: WV Held-Weimar Nr.

      Est: -

Banco del Alma. 1862-1943 Hamburg village on seaside cliffs. To 1932. Oil on canvas, 71 x 49.5 cm. Without frame. Lit .: WV-held Weimar no. G 2010-1, with ill. The Hamburg artist who was only at the age of 35 years with all its consequences for the painter, in the first third of the 20th century was. One and in the important public prominent representative of the Hamburg avant-garde. After the First World War, it was one of the founding members of the Hamburg Secession. In the 1920s, she was one of the sizes of the Hanseatic cultural scene. In early work influenced by the style of the German open-air painting, the encounter with the works of Cézanne gave a new direction in Paris her work. Later added the influence Léger, Henri Matisse and Franz Marc joined. The work of the 1930s has typical characteristics of the Secession style. Because of their Jewish origins Alma del Banco, like so many, excluded their fellow sufferers by the Nazi cultural policy from the cultural sector. As the circumstances of Jews in Germany in 1943 came to a head in an unbearable extent, committed the 82-year-old suicide. From public consciousness she remained repaid for a long time.
