Born in Canada in 1918, Hunter Barker studied at the Ontario College of Art, Toronto, the Darlington Art College, Durham, England and the London School of Arts and Crafts, London. Mr. Barker studied and worked with many famous artists throughout his career including Robert Loughheed, Charles Seliger, John Clymer, A. Shore Packer, and Charles Kingham. He spent many years illustrating for national magazines, paperback book publishers and NBC Television in New York.Through his lifetime Mr. Barker traveled extensively in the United States and abroad gathering ideas and information to broaden his insight into the subject matters he became involved in. Mr. Barker has received numerous awards for his fine watercolors and oils in New York, Florida, and Canada; these include the Grumbacher Silver Award and "Best of Show" numerous times. Mr. Barker's work is in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Canada, which include the prestigious MacDonald Collection, Paine Weber Collection, Baskin Robbins Collection and the General Motors Collection.Hunter Barker passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010.
