Ernest Harrison Barnes was a teacher and a painter who studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in the Art Students League of New York. A hand written résumé made by the artist that lists where he studied and exhibited is in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. His landscape paintings display an influence in coloring and handling from the paintings of Paul Cezanne.
