Born in 1878 as Ernö Barta (exact place of birth unknown), died in 1956. Known for figurative compositions, portraits and decorative illustrations in the style of Viennese Modernism and Art Nouveau, often with influences from the Hungarian Secession. Worked as a book illustrator with works for fairy tales and literature, including illustrations for Grimm's fairy tales; worked in Vienna and Hungarian centres. Created oil paintings and drawings with ornamental elements, exotic motifs and portraits reminiscent of the aesthetics of Aladár Körösfői-Kriesch or the Gödöllő artists' colony.
