PHILIP BARTER (ME/CA, 1939-2024) "Asleep Afish" (Miff Pinkham), 7/89, oil on canvas, signed lower right, in grey painted slat frame. Per Portland Art Gallery: Miff Pinkham fished from his rowboat until he died in his 90's. He drank a pint of grain alcohol a day and there are many stories told about him. The only other boat that he ever used was a dory and that was to get bait. Miff owned miles of coastline in Pigeon Bay which he gradually gave away to other fishermen and family.
