FRANCIS BEAUGUREAU AIRPLANE IN FLIGHT OIL ON CANVAS

Francis Henry Beaugureau (1920 - 2001) Airplane in Flight Oil on Canvas. Francis was born in Chicago, he took classes at the Frederic Mizen Academy and the Art Institute of Chicago. He spent most of World War II as a B-17 pilot in England documenting his experiences with realistic paintings of aircraft in combat. After the War, he worked as a commercial artist and portrait painter; he also became a consultant to the United States Air Force, creating art programs and a USAF museum. In the 1970s, he lived in Scottsdale, Arizona. He lived in Scottsdale, Arizona for 47 years (1954-2001), maintaining a studio on Chapparal Road. Beaugureau created a series of thirty paintings, named The Indian Wars in Arizona 1846-1886. He thoroughly researched his subject matter, and produced one of the most historically accurate records of the state's history.
