    HERMÈS “Les Cavaliers D'or” Scarf 100% silk. In perfect condition, barely used. Measurements: 90 x 90 cm. The Les Cavaliers d’Or by Hermès is an iconic silk scarf designed by artist Vladimir Rybaltchenko, known by his artistic name Rybal. First introduced in 1975, this design is one of the maison’s great classics and stands out for its inspiration drawn from the extraordinary gold treasures of the ancient Scythians, the nomadic people who inhabited the Eurasian steppes between the 7th and 3rd centuries B.C. The scarf was created to accompany a major exhibition dedicated to Scythian art held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York that same year. In perfect condition, barely used.

Makovsky was the son of collector, Yegor Ivanovich Makovsky, who was one of the founders of the Moscow Art School. Vladimir had two brothers, Nikolai Makovsky and Konstantin Makovsky, and one sister, Alexandra Makovsky, all of whom were famous painters. Vladimir studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. He finished his studies in 1869 and the following year became one of the founding members of the Association of Travelling Art Exhibitions, where his many years of prolific work brought him to a leading position.
