    Est: $1,000 - $1,500

Cecil Crosley Bell (American, 1906-1970) Late Afternoon, Brooklyn Bridge Signed 'CECIL C. BELL' bottom right; also titled, signed and dated '37' verso, oil on Masonite 22 x 30 in. (55.9 x 76.2cm) Provenance Kraushaar Galleries, New York, New York. Sotheby's, New York, sale of March 20, 1996, lot 257. Acquired directly from the above sale. Property from the Estate of Angela Gross Folk, New Jersey. The work would likely benefit from a light cleaning. Examination under UV light reveals sporadic remnants of old glowing varnish throughout. Apart from a repaired scratch at bottom right (to the right of the worker on the roof), we do not see any sign of inpainting (we spot fluorescence in some parts, but they appear to be caused by the pigments used by the artist as they follow the exact same composition). See Specialist's pictures for more details. To request additional information or access to more images, please contact Specialist Raphael Chatroux at [email protected] Frame: 27 1/4 x 35 1/4 x 2 in.
