        Est: $1,920 - $2,880

John Bell: An 1860 Silk Campaign Ribbon with Brady Portrait. Long considered to be the second-rarest candidate in the set, second to the Douglas. However, based on appearances on the market over the last decade, the Bell is arguably rarer. The Everett mate is also offered in this auction. Great condition, with a bit of minor staining at the very bottom. 2.625" x 7.25". From the {A HREF="http://www.ha.com/information/merrill-berman-political-collection.s" target="_blank"}Merrill C. Est: $2,400 - $3,600

John Bell: An Extremely Rare 1860 Silk Campaign Ribbon. A matching Lincoln is listed by Sullivan & Fischer (AL-9), and presumably this design was produced for all four 1860 candidates. This Bell version is unlisted, and only the second example we have ever encountered (the other was sold privately by The Political Gallery in the early 1990s for approximately $3500). The only relatively available Bell ribbons are the single portrait and jugate versions with Brady portraits. Probably fewer than ten examples are known of all other varieties combined. Great condition, with just a hint of trivial light aging. 2.5" x 7". From the {A HREF="http://www.ha.com/information/merrill-berman-political-collection.s" target="_blank"}Merrill C. Berman Collection{/A}.
