Technik: Öl auf Leinwand, gerahmt, Signatur: unsigniert, mit Inventarnr. 75 auf Keilrahmung, Maße: 57 x 72 cm (Bildmaß), 75 x 92 cm (Rahmenmaß), Zustand: gut, doubliert, Farbverluste, am Rand überarbeitet, etwas reinigungsbedürftig, Kommentar: Pietro Bellotti bzw. Bellotto wird um 1627 in Volciano di Salo geboren als Mitglied einer weit verzweigten Künstlerfamilie, die für Mäzenen in Italien, Frankreich und Deutschland tätig war. Sein Bruder war vermählt mit der Schwester des berühmtesten der 'Canalettos', dem Vedutisten Giovanni Antonio Canal alias Canaletto (1697-1768), ein Onkel eines seiner Namensvettern Pietro Bellotto (1725-1768), ebenfalls Vedutist. Seine besondere künstlerische Stärke zeigt sich bei dem Porträtisten in Personentypen, respektive einer gelungenen Darstellung höherer Lebensalter. Hier sind auch das Philosophenporträt in der Pinacoteca di Feltre, 'Vecchia testa' im Museo Correr in Venedig und 'La Parca Lachesi' (1654) im Stuttgarter Museum zu nennen. Die Zuschreibung erfolgte anhand der Künstlermonografie von Prof. Anelli, der zwei weitere Fassungen dieses Gemäldes auflistet. Eine davon im Besitz des Schlosses Pommersfelden, eine weitere mit identischen Bildmaßen wurde am 13.10.2010 im Dorotheum versteigert. Das vorliegende Gemälde zeigt ein stärkeres Chiaroscuro, in dem Details wie der Pelzbesatz des Jäckchens zurücktreten und das Gesicht der alten Dame durch Schattierungen modellierter erscheint, nahezu geheimnisvoll. His brother was married to the sister of the most famous of the 'Canalettos', the vedutist Giovanni Antonio Canal alias Canaletto (1697-1768), an uncle of one of his namesakes Pietro Bellotto (1725-1768), also a vedutist. The portraitist's particular artistic strength lies in the types of people he portrayed, or rather in the successful depiction of older age groups. The philosopher's portrait in the Pinacoteca di Feltre, 'Vecchia testa' in the Museo Correr in Venice and 'La Parca Lachesi' (1654) in the Stuttgart Museum should also be mentioned here. The attribution was based on the artist's monograph by Prof. Anelli, who lists two other versions of this painting. One of them is in the possession of Pommersfelden Castle, another with identical dimensions was auctioned at the Dorotheum on 13th of October 2010. The present painting shows a stronger chiaroscuro, in which details such as the fur trim of the jacket recede and the old lady's face appears more modelled by shading, almost mysterious. Quest'ultimo aspetto denota una presa dal vero della figura, indagata con verace realismo. Luciano Anelli conta nella sua monografia innumerevoli opere simili e per quanto riguarda quella in esame, si suggerisce un'esecuzione alla maturità, intorno al settimo decennio. Sein Bruder war vermählt mit der Schwester des berühmtesten der 'Canalettos', dem Vedutisten Giovanni Antonio Canal alias Canaletto (1697-1768), ein Onkel eines seiner Namensvettern Pietro Bellotto (1725-1768), ebenfalls Vedutist. Seine besondere künstlerische Stärke zeigt sich bei dem Porträtisten in Personentypen, respektive einer gelungenen Darstellung höherer Lebensalter. Hier sind auch das Philosophenporträt in der Pinacoteca di Feltre, 'Vecchia testa' im Museo Correr in Venedig und 'La Parca Lachesi' (1654) im Stuttgarter Museum zu nennen. Die Zuschreibung erfolgte anhand der Künstlermonografie von Prof. Anelli, der zwei weitere Fassungen dieses Gemäldes auflistet. Vor dunklem Grund hebt sich in Chiaro Scuro-Manier das Hüftstück eines in ländlicher Kleidung gewandeten alten Mannes ab, welcher in seiner Linken eine Schale mit Bohnen, in seiner Rechten einen Löffel mit Solchen hält. Besonders augenfällig sind zwei stilistisch verwandte Vergleichsbeispiele, welche Succi anführt: einmal ein „Filosofo con libro e berretta“ in der Pinacoteca Nazionale in Bologna sowie ein in einer Privatsammlung befindlicher „Anziano con scaldino“ (Moretto, Savoldo, Romanino, Ceruti: Cento capolavori delle collezioni bresciane, (Hrsg.) Zambolo, Brescia 2009, ad vocem Il dipinto, attribuito a Pietro Bellotti da Luciano Anelli, raffigura una delle iconografie più note realizzate dall'artista, di cui il prototipo si riconosce nella tela databile al 1654 custodita al Museo Statale di Stoccarda (Anelli 1996). Questa in esame mostra altrettanta qualità, percepibile nell'intensità introspettiva dello sguardo e per la bella impronta pittorica riconoscibile nei dettagli, quali il fazzoletto fiorato sopra la testa e la naturalistica descrizione del volto. Quest'ultimo aspetto denota una presa dal vero della figura, indagata con verace realismo e che evidentemente riscosse uno straordinario successo collezionistico. Luciano Anelli conta nella sua monografia, una decina di modelli con diverse varianti, di formato e dettagli iconografici e per quanto riguarda questa in esame, Matteo Zambolo suggerisce un esecuzione alla metà del settimo decennio, quando l'artista era in Francia al seguito del Cardinal Mazzarino. Zambolo, Brescia 2009, pp. 50 - 51, n. 9 Dall'esasperato naturalismo e gusto tenebroso, il dipinto è stato riconosciuto a Pietro Bellotti da Luciano Anelli. L'artista, che secondo l'Orlandi, acquisì fama dipingendo teste di carattere, era nato a Salò e si trasferì in gioventù a Venezia, dove fu indubbiamente l'arte tenebrosa del Langetti a ispirarlo. Le fonti evidenziano che la sua prima produzione fu quella di eseguire ritratti e figure fantasiose, garantendogli una straordinaria notorietà. Ai parametri estetici e illustrativi del maestro si adatta bene la tela in esame, che dimostra una chiara influenza nordica, dettata dagli esempi di Gerard Ter Borch e Pieter de Hooch e i confronti con le opere note evidenziano una datazione matura, verosimilmente all'ottavo decennio, quando l'artista era attivo a Milano o a Mantova. Dal punto di vista dei confronti, possiamo osservare che il volto dell'anziana donna presenta analogie con la 'Vecchia pensosa' di ubicazione ignota e con la 'Vecchia che legge un libro' di Pommersfelden (cfr.
