Frühe und sehr seltene Ausgaben von Bembos "Prose della volgar lingua", der Gründungsgrammatik der italienischen Literatursprache, und der "Rime", seiner kanonischen poetischen Abhandlung in Versform. - CNCE 5063 (Prose) und 5072 (Rime). - Adams I, 608 (Rime, nennt fälschlich 1561 als Erscheiungsdatum). - BM Italian, 12226. aa 44 (Prose). - Nicht bei Brunet u. Graesse. - Bembos "Prose" wurde erstmals 1525 veröffentlicht und legten die Regeln für die italienische Literatursprache fest, die der Autor fast ausschließlich aus den im toskanischen Dialekt verfassten Schriften von Petrarca und Boccaccio ableitete. Fünf Jahre danach erschienen dann Bembos »Rime«, zeitgemäße Umsetzungen der antiken Poetiken von Aristoteles und Quintilian, womit der Autor den Maßstab für das Verfassen von italienischen Gedichten in den folgenden Jahrhunderten festlegen sollte. Im Auftrag des Verlegers Rampazetto wurden beide Texte Bembos für die hier vorliegende Ausgabe von dem renommierten Schriftgeleherten Francesco Sansovino nach dem damals neuesten Stand der Editionskritik überarbeitet, z. B. mit Indizes versehen und mit Randnotizen ausgestattet. - Einband, Vorsatzblätter und Ss. 58 bis 65 (1) wurmgängig, einige Seiten mit leichten Wasserflecken, Vorder- und Hinterspiegel mit Besitzervermerken. Insgesamt ein solides Exemplar des bibliophilen Juwels in wirklich sammelwürdigem Zustand. - Von großer Seltenheit im Handel, für uns ist voliegende Ausgabe der "Prose" auf Auktionen nur in drei Exemplaren, jene der "Rime" überhaupt nicht nachweisbar. Early and very rare editions of Bembo's 'Prose della volgar lingua', the founding grammar of the Italian literary language, and the 'Rime', his canonical poetic treatise in verse form. - Handy edition with 2 printer's marks (one repeated) on the title pages, and 5 illustrated head-pieces as well as initials, all in wood- cut. - Bembo's 'Prose' was first published in 1525 and laid down the rules for the Italian literary language, which the author derived almost exclusively from the writings of Petrarch and Boccaccio, written in the Tuscan dialect. Five years later, Bembo's 'Rime' appeared, contemporary adaptations of the ancient poetics of Aristotle and Quintilian, with which the author was to set the standard for the composition of Italian poetry in the following centuries. On behalf of the publisher Rampazetto, both of Bembo's texts for the present edition were revised by the renowned scholar Francesco Sansovino in accordance with the latest standards of editorial knowledge at the time, e.g. with indices and marginal notes. - Binding, endpapers and pp. 58 to 65 (1) in parts worm-eaten, some pages with slight water stains, front and rear endpapers with owner's notes. Overall, a solid copy of this bibliophile's gem in a solid collectible copy. - Rare in the trade, we have only seen 3 copies of the present edition of the 'Prose' at auction, and none of the 'Rime' at all.

Nicht bei Adams. – Kuriose Zusammenstellung der vier "Lettere"-Bände Pietro Bembos (1470-1547) in zwei verschiedenen venezianischen Drucken. – Streckenweise winzige Eselsohren, vereinzelt kleine Eckfehlstellen, unten durchgehender schwacher Feuchtrand, vereinzelte Risse, sonst gut erhalten. Streckenweise schwach feuchtrandig, gelegentlich gering braunfleckig, einige Blatt mit kleinen Eckknickspuren, Blatt 102 mit Papierfehler. Am interessantesten ist vielleicht der Einband des ersten Bandes mit einem bemerkenswerten Fragment einer Handschrift aus dem 14. Jahrhundert wohl mit einer Passage aus der Genesis in außergewöhnlich sauberer Gotica textura und zwar mit extremem Zeilenabstand auf Pergament geschrieben, so dass die winzigen Kommentare (von verso durchscheinend) Platz fanden, bzw. auch die Möglichkeit bestand, Interlinearglossen oder gar Übersetzungen einzubringen.

First white paper and title page on the reverse, spaces for initials with guide letter, missing the last white paper, & nbsp; & nbsp; traces of humidity along the edges, some reddening, water gore on the inner margin of the last issues, more intense to issue O, small woodworm hole in the upper margin of the last two leaves, coeval parchment binding, some annotations on the front plate, evanescent manuscript title on the back, some slight stains, small tear on the spine with traces of restoration, very small lack of the cap and two woodworm holes. XVII in full leather with author and title within gusset and friezes embossed in gold on the back, small lack of the cap, slight defects.

2 parti in 1 volume in-8° (mm 145x95). Pagine [16], 398, [2]; 543, [25]. Frontespizio con grande marca incisa in legno e piccola gora d'acqua marginale. Testo decorato da capilettera xilografici. Esemplare un poco rifilato lungo il margine superiore con lievi gore d'acqua e minime arrossature. Legatura successiva in piena pergamena floscia con titoli manoscritti al dorso. SI AGGIUNGE: Ludovico Dolce, I quattro libri delle osservationi, di nuovo da lui medesimo ricorrette. Venezia: De' Ferrari, 1562. In-8° (mm 150x100). Pagine 240. Frontespizio con marca incisa in legno e timbro di possesso. Lievi gore d'acqua e arrossature. Legatura successiva in piena pergamena rigida con qualche forellino di tarlo. Bembo, Pietro Le prose del Bembo Firenze, appresso Lorenzo Torrentino stampator ducale, 1548. In 4°. Stemma mediceo di Torrentino al frontespizio, lievi fioriture, legatura moderna in piena pelle bordeaux con impressioni a secco. Ex libris al contropiatto. Rara terza edizione delle prose del Bembo, precedentemente stampate nel 1528 e nel 1538. Di questa edizione del Torrentino vi sono due varianti, una con frontespizio e con la data 1548 (ma per i bibliografi entrambe stampate alla fine del 1549), e l'altra con il titolo in forma di antiporta e le note tipografiche al solo colophon. Le due varianti differiscono inoltre per alcuni particolari del testo delle due prime cc. Il Gamba indica il motivo di queste varianti: "Avvertì il ch. ab. Zannoni, che essendosi riprovato dal Varchi l'articolo LE (davanti a prose) come contrario alla mente dell'Autore, furono tolti i frontespizii da quasi tutti gli esemplari."
