    DESCRIPTION: An attrib. signed Leon Bertaux bronze sculpture. This is an Art Nouveau bronze called "Young Girl Bathing", poss. made in 1870 by the French sculptor Helene Bertaux. It allegorises a resting young nude girl with a dragon fly on her back. The sculpture is mounted onto a base of polished black marble. This Art Nouveau style bronze figurine is made of bronze in a high quality and as the original, this bronze cast is signed with "Madame Leon Bertaux" signature. (In 1854, Helene Bertaux began signing her works "Madame Leon Bertaux", the name of her companion, whom she married after her husband's death in 1865). CIRCA: 20th Century. ORIGIN: France. DIMENSIONS: W: 11 1/4" D: 7" H: 10 1/2". CONDITION: Good condition. See lot description for details on item condition.
