A former model, actress, and newscaster, artist Carolyn Blish is known primarily for her watercolor landscapes. The only formal training she received in painting was two weeks’ tutelage under artist Edgar Whitney, who taught her the basics of composition and watercolors. Born in 1928, she began painting in the 1950s, but didn’t exhibit her works until 1965. Carolyn Blish’s paintings often feature landscapes or images of children and sometimes reflect Biblical scripture or religious iconography. As an artist, Carolyn Blish sees her work as a kind of prayer and celebration of her faith.
Carolyn Blish’s prints and paintings have earned several awards and a membership in the prestigious American Watercolor Society. Her book, Drawing Closer, was inspired by biblical quotes. You can find art prints for purchase online and at auction.
