"Rügen Brandung" und mit der Nummer 61. Karl Theodor Boehme lernte an der Karlsruher Akademie bei Gustav Schönleber. Auf seinen Reisen nach Rügen, Bornholm, Norwegen und Frankreich sammelte er erste Eindrücke für sein bevorzugtes Motiv, die Küste. Das Meer steht dabei immer im Fokus seiner Bilder. Boehmes lockere Pinselführung und subtile Farbgebung schaffen ein Stimmungsbild von impressionistischer Beobachtungsgabe. Fischerboote am Strand von San Fruttuoso an der ligurischen Küste. Öl auf Leinwand, auf Malkarton kaschiert. 42,5 x 54 cm. Am Unterrand signiert und datiert "Karl Boehme" und "S. Fruttuoso, d. 13.4.1925". Die letzte große Reise nach Ligurien in den Jahren 1924/25 führte Karl Boehme an die Bucht San Fruttuoso bei Camogli/Genua an der italienischen Riviera di Levante. In dem vorliegenden Gemälde zeigt sich Boehmes viel gepriesenes Talent für die brillante Darstellung von Wasser und Küstenlandschaften. Friedrich Furchheim bemerkt 1916 zum Werk Boehmes: "... [er hat] viele Bilder gemalt, [...] die sich durch besonderen Farbenreiz auszeichnen. Boehmes lockere Pinselführung und subtile Farbgebung schaffen ein Stimmungsbild von impressionistischer Beobachtungsgabe, das in fein abgestuften und akzentuierten Blautönen das Meer und die Wolken des Himmels modelliert, deren Ruhe einen stimmungsvollen Kontrast zum Wellengang des Meeres bildet. He sought out rocky shore scenes to paint.Starting in 1891 he participated in exhibitions in Munich, Vienna , Berlin, Salzburg and Buenos Aires. He has received numerous awards. In 1902 he received at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition a small gold medal. During the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich Haus der Kunst in 1937, he was represented by five works, including three from Capri.His landscape paintings mostly show rocks rich sea-shore and there powerfully acting natural forces. They are often free of people, ships and other signs of civilization, with the water and clouds appearing in violent motion.

Nur einige wenige Seevögel beleben die einsame aus Fels und Sand gebildete Küste, die der Künstler wahrscheinlich auf einer seiner frühen Reisen in den Norden aufgenommen hat. Eine besondere Finesse ist das Licht, das von der von dunklen Wolken verdeckten Sonne ausgeht und sich nur als weißer Widerschein auf der Wasseroberfläche und der Brandung findet. Karl Boehme, Abtei von San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte sommerliche Küstenlandschaft, mit Blick übers sonnenbeschienene türkisblaue Meer zum felsigen Strand, mit den altehrwürdigen Mauern des Benediktinerklosters (vor dessen Restaurierung 1933) an der Bucht San Fruttuoso bei Camogli/Genua an der italienischen Riviera di Levante, 1924 unternahm Boehme seine letzte große Reise nach Ligurien und zeigt mit vorliegendem Gemälde seine ganze von Zeitgenossen hochgepriesene Virtualität in der brillanten Darstellung von Wasser und Küstenlandschaften, so schrieb Friedrich Furchheim 1916 zum Werk des Künstlers "... [er hat] viele Bilder gemalt, …, die sich durch besonderen Farbenreiz auszeichnen. Er versteht es wunderbar, die wahre Farbe des Meeres, der Felsen im Sonnenglanz und ihre Spiegelung wiederzugeben ...", pastose Malerei in leuchtender Farbigkeit, Öl auf Leinwand und Karton, rechts unten signiert, ortsbezeichnet und datiert "Karl Boehme – S. Fruttuoso, d. 14. Mai 1924", in Goldleiste gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 42 x 53,5 cm. Künstlerinfo: auch Karl Theodor Boehme oder Böhm, dt.
