    BONNAFFE (A. A.). Recuerdos de Lima. Album de tipos, trages y costumbres. Lima, A. A. Bonnaffé, 1856 et 1857. 2 volumes in-folio, 24 lithographies. Sous deux portefeuilles d’éditeur percaline marron et rouge (plats défraîchis et dédorés, les dos et les bords des plats renforcés de toile adhésive, quelques rousseurs, quelques petites déchirures en marges, certaines planches avec des marges légèrement coupées). Rare réunion des deux séries complètes de lithographies par un artiste français, A. A. Bonnaffé, sur les types, costumes et métiers péruviens au milieu du XIXe. Les 24 planches, titrées, ont été finement lithographiées en noir par Julien, Morin, Gaildreau, de Moraine, Didier et Adam d’après les dessins, exécutés à Lima au Pérou par l’auteur en 1855 et 1856. Imprimées par Lemercier à Paris et publiées à Lima et Paris en 1856 pour la première série puis 1857 pour les 12 planches suivantes. Toutes les planches de notre exemplaire ont été finement mises en coloris à l’époque. Palau, 32375. Absent de Colas.

BONAFFÉ, 1856-1857] first editions, first and second series, 2 volumes, folio (448 x 306mm. and 494 x 350mm.), 24 hand-coloured lithographed plates (12 in each series) only, both uniformly bound in publisher's embossed green cloth, upper covers titled and dated in gilt, plates in the second series with spotting and minor marginal repairs, volume 2 neatly rebacked, both with modern endpapers LITERATURE Palau 32375 (under Bonaffé); not in Colas or Lipperheide NOTE The title and dates are taken from the upper cover of the volumes, it would appear that no titles or text were issued.
