Biography

Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510) was a famed Florentine Early Renaissance painter who worked in tempera and oils. Sandro Botticelli's artwork includes life-size depictions of allegories and myths, such as his masterpieces The Birth of Venus, Venus and Mars, and Primavera. The subjects of Sandro Botticelli's portraits were often members of his patron Medici family and their inner circle.

Famous Sandro Botticelli artwork encompasses the frescoes on the walls of the Sistine Chapel, Events of the Life of Moses, and The Temptation of Christ, as well as a series of papal portraits. Many of his pieces are attributable to his workshop under his full name of Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi.
