Originaltitel In verkleinerter, aber dennoch großformatiger Ausführung gemalte, qualitätvolle Kopie des ehemals aus der kurfürstlichen Galerie München stammenden Gemäldes von Sébastian Bourdon, das sich heute in der Alten Pinakothek in München befindet (Inv.-Nr. 155). Geschildert werden die rot brennenden Kalköfen, in denen auch Material aus den Ruinen antiker Gebäude gebrannt wurde. Bevölkert wird die abendlich gestimmte Szene von einer Vielzahl an Arbeitern mit Nutztieren, während sich im Hintergrund markante, römische Bauten wie die Engelsburg erheben. Besonders niederländische Maler, die in Rom lebten, griffen diese Motivik auf, die als Kuriosität aus dem Mittelmeerraum galt. Öl/Lwd.; 66 cm x 88,2 cm. Rahmen. Large antique biblical engraving titled Worship of the Golden Calf. The composition depicts Moses descending Mount Sinai holding the Ten Commandments, while below the Israelites gather in celebration and idolatrous worship of the Golden Calf. The scene is rendered with dramatic figural grouping and narrative clarity typical of French Baroque religious imagery. Sébastien Bourdon was one of the twelve founding members of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture, and a prominent figure in 17th-century French art. The engraving was produced by Claude Malbouré (circa 1645–after 1706), a significant French print publisher and dealer active in Paris. Malbouré worked alongside his son Antoine and was known for producing and distributing engravings after leading artists of the period, including Poussin, Bourdon, and Jouvenet.

(1616 Montpellier - 1671 Paris) attr.; Brustporträt der Königin Christina von Schweden im Alter von 25 Jahren Repräsentatives ins Profil gesetztes Brustportät der jungen Königin in einem tief ausgeschnittenen, mit Perl- und Edelsteinschmuck besetztem Kleid, einen roten Umhang locker über die Schultern geworfen, ehem. für einen Ovalrahmen konzipiert. Bourdon war einer der Gründungsmitglieder der Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture in Paris, dessen Direktor er später wurde. Bekannt für sein ausgezeichnetes Bildgedächtnis und seine stilistische Vielseitigkeit, war es ihm möglich, viele Aufträge von religiösen und historischen Szenen, als auch Porträts und Landschaften anzunehmen, deren erfolgreiche Erfüllung ihm ein hohes Ansehen einbrachten. BACCHANALE Öl auf Leinwand. Doubliert. 126 x 178 cm. In vergoldetem Prunkrahmen. Das vorliegende Gemälde ist eine Kopie nach einem Werk von Nicolas Poussin (1594-1665) von 1627/1628 mit den Massen 121 x 175 cm, das sich im Louvre in Paris befindet. In harmonischer, arkadischer Landschaft auf dem Boden in blauem Gewand sitzend eine Gitarrenspielerin, der eine junge Mänade und ein Mann in Rückenansicht zuhören. Dieser erhält zudem ein leeres Glas nach oben, um es von dem Wein ausschenkenden Gott Dionysos, mit Weinlaubkranz auf dem Haupt, gefüllt zu bekommen. Ein am Boden schlafendes und weitere Kinder bereichen die Szenerie. Am linken Bildrand zum Gefolge des Bacchus gehörend ein wohl betrunkener junger Mann unter einem Baum, dem zwei weitere zur Hilfe eilen; einer hält einen Ziegenbock an den Hörnern, der immer in Verbindung mit Bacchus und seinen Festen zu finden ist. Sébastien BOURDON et atelier Montpellier, 1616 - Paris, 1671 Cincinnatus recevant les envoyés du Sénat romain Huile sur toile (Restaurations) Sans cadre h: 140,50 w: 85,50 cm Provenance : Peut-être collection Francis Collins ; Peut-être sa vente, Londres, Christie's, 15 février 1834, n°50 ; Vente anonyme ; Stockholm, Bukowskis, 13 mai 2022 (comme anonyme du XVIIIe siècle) ; Acquis lors de cette vente par l'actuel propriétaire Commentaire : Né à Montpellier en 1616, Sébastien Bourdon passa les premières années de sa formation à Paris avant de séjourner en Italie entre 1636 et 1637. De retour à Paris, il commença à recevoir de nombreuses commandes, ouvrit un atelier et fit partie des membres fondateurs de l'Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture en 1648. Probablement destinée au décor d'une pièce, cette toile en hauteur doit être rapprochée d'un tableau proche et de même format, récemment réapparu dans une vente1, illustrant un rare sujet de l'Ancien Testament : l'offrande des premiers fruits à Dieu (Ex 23, 16 et 34,26 ; Dt 26, 10 ; fig.1). L'iconographie de notre toile est quant à elle tirée de l'histoire romaine, relatant les mérites du consul Cincinnatus. Récits biblique et historique pourraient ainsi se côtoyer dans un même cycle décoratif célébrant les vertus. 1. Vente anonyme ; New York, Christie's, 23 septembre - 7 octobre 2022, n° 48. Rapport de condition : Huile sur toile, rentoilée, châssis à clés à une traverse verticale et deux traverses horizontales. Bonne tension de la toile. Châssis légèrement voilé. DIE HEILIGE FAMILIE MIT DEM JOHANNESKNABEN Öl auf Kupfer. 44,5 x 44 cm. Klassizistischer Rahmen. Sowohl die Feinmalerei dieses Gemäldes als auch der Kompositionscharakter sprechen für die Handschrift des Malers, obwohl sein Oeuvre recht uneinheitlich ist. Überdies finden sich mehrere seiner Bilder – wie hier – nicht selten in nahezu quadratischem Format. Bourdon, dessen Lebenslauf als recht abenteuerlich überliefert wird, zählt dennoch zu den bemerkenswertesten Malern Frankreichs seiner Zeit. 1634 in Rom befasste er sich mit Werken im Bambocciade-Stil. In Paris hatte er mehr Erfolg mit Schlachten- und Jagdbildern. 1652 wurde er von Königin Christine als Hofmaler nach Stockholm berufen. Sein Reiterbild der Herrscherin befindet sich heute in Madrid. Sein Spätwerk ist deutlich von Poussin beeinflusst. In der Darstellung der Heiligen Familie hat der Maler ungeachtet der Marienfigur die beiden Kinder Jesus und Johannes ins Bildzentrum gesetzt. Damit ist auch das Lamm - Symbol der Opferung Christi - zum eigentlichen Mittelpunkt geworden. Wie immer ist auch hier die Figur des Josef in den Hintergrund gestellt, in der Braunfärbung des Gewandes als betonter Gegensatz zu den kräftigen Farbwerten von Rot und Blau in der Kleidung Mariens, wobei diese Farbtrias Blau-Weiß-Rot wie häufig in der französischen Malerei auf die Farben des Landes anspielt.
