Biography
(b Budapest, Hungary, 1816; d Wilderswil, Switzerland, 1897) French Painter. Born in Hungary to French parents, Charles-Edouard Boutibonne studied in Vienna with F. Ammerling and later in Paris with Franz Winterhalter and Achille Deveria. The artist is especially known for his aristocratic portraits and genre paintings. He also painted subjects inspired from mythology such as, Léda shown during the Salon of 1864, or Suzanne au Bain (1881).
