The scene incorporates vivid, contrasting colors, including deep blues, greens, yellows, and reds. Artist signed, numbered, and titled along the bottom margin, edition 34 of 50. Unframed. Approximate sheet size 29.5" x 22.5". Condition: Good overall vintage condition with typical handling wear along edges and corners. Deckled edges present on the left and right sides. The 1985 Chicago Renaissance Society White Sox Set of baseball trading cards was created in honor of the 75th anniversary of Comiskey Park and the 70th anniversary of The Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago. These were then produced into sets of limited-edition baseball cards, and the original works were auctioned to benefit The Renaissance Society. The art writer Miranda McClintoc wrote: “Phyllis Bramson’s imaginative portrayals of stereotypical sexual relationships incorporate the passionate complexity of eastern mythology, the sexual innuendos of soap operas and sometimes the happy endings of cartoons.” This is a solid example of her mid-career work. Bramson is a recipient of three National Endowments, a Senior Fulbight Scholar, a Louis Comfort Tiffany Grant, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Rockefeller Foundation Grant, and a 2009 Anonymous Was a Woman Award. Over thirty one-person exhibitions, including The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, The Chicago Cultural Center and the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago among many others.
