LITA CABELLUT (Sariñena, Huesca, 1961). "Before the night comes".2018. Artist's book, copy 3/50. With 10 lithographs. Signed and justified by the artist. Measurements: We are looking at an artist's book made by four hands between the renowned Spanish artist and the poet Javier Santiso (Saint Germain in Laye, France, 1969). The lithographs included in the collection were inspired by the poems of Santiso, a prestigious economics professor whose life and work led Cabellut to discover his new vocation. The unclassifiable book was built up gradually with progressive encounters between the painter and the poet. The strength of the verses converge with the subjugating figuration of Cabellut's "Rostros y Rastros". Visual poem and lyrical word engage in a fluid dialogue that proposes a fresh way of looking at life, giving fuel to the imagination. The "faces", through which Cabellut converses with great portraitists of the past, are combined with "traces", alluding to the roller as a metaphor for the technique that is a hallmark of the artist, who delves with rollers into the textures and scars of the skin. Of gypsy origin, Lita Cabellut was born in the small town of Sariñena, in Huesca, into a family with serious dysfunctionalities. Abandoned by her parents, she was raised by her grandmother in the city of Barcelona. Las Ramblas, the Boquería market, the Port Vell and the Plaza Real, places full at the time of outsiders, artists and show business personalities but also tourists, were the setting for her childhood, marked by dyslexia and the need, at times, to beg. The death of her grandmother when she was only ten years old led to her placement in an orphanage, where, at the age of thirteen, she was adopted by an upper-class Catalan family. The paintings of Goya, Velázquez, Ribera and Rembrandt, discovered during visits to the Prado Museum, revealed her artistic vocation and, in 1978, the artist held her first exhibition, at the Masnou Town Hall. In 1982 she moved to Holland with her family, where she studied with a scholarship at the Gerrit Rietveld art academy until 1984. The painting of the great Dutch baroque masters was essential in the construction of her art, not so much in terms of style as in terms of technique. The artist works with oil on canvas as well as drawing on paper, sculpture, photography, visual poems and video art. Sometimes her works take on certain aspects of the Italian "buon fresco", or she adds a crackle effect to her oil paintings that produces a strong plastic, visual impact. Her work abounds in portraits, where the strong influence of Rembrandt, Francis Bacon or Jackson Pollock can be seen, all of them characterised by the expressiveness of the line and the disfigurement of reality in an attempt to reflect the inner tearing of her models. The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions, both solo and group. She has received numerous awards, such as the Gypsy Culture Award for Painting and Visual Arts from the Institute of Gypsy Culture in 2011. She is also one of the most sought-after living artists on the current art market. In 2015, Artprice magazine ranked her 333rd on its list of the 500 most sought-after contemporary artists, behind only Miquel Barceló and Juan Muñoz.

LITA CABELLUT (Sariñena, Huesca, 1961). "Gypsy", 2007. Oil on canvas. Signed, titled and dated on the back. Measurements: 200 x 160 cm. Lita Cabellut gives us a monumental female portrait faithful to her artistic style. The represented gypsy completely occupies the entire canvas, in an elegant, slow but energetic manner, with eyes that look completely at the viewer, as if wanting to convey the affliction and sadness that emanates from inside her. The composition, simple in terms of its content but complex in terms of its technique, colors and shapes used, continues Cabellut's own style, a tremendously expressive style that has led the Spanish artist to be one of the most sought-after artists internationally. Of gypsy origin, Lita Cabellut was born in the small town of Sariñena, in Huesca, into a family with serious dysfunctions. Abandoned by her parents, she was raised by her grandmother in the city of Barcelona. Las Ramblas, the Boquería market, Port Vell and Plaza Real, places full at the time of outsiders, artists and showbiz characters but also tourists, were the scene of his childhood, marked by dyslexia and the need , sometimes, begging. In 1982 he moved to Holland, along with his family, where he studied, with a scholarship, at the Gerrit Rietveld art academy, until 1984. The painting of the great Dutch masters of the Baroque was essential in the construction of his art, not so much both in terms of style and technique. The artist works with both oil on canvas and drawing on paper, sculpture, photography, visual poems and video art. Sometimes her works take on some aspects of the Italian “buon fresco”, or she adds a crackling effect to her oil paintings that produces a strong plastic, visual impact. Portraits of her abound in her work, where the strong influence of Rembrandt, Francis Bacon or Jackson Pollock can be seen, all of them characterized by the expressiveness of the line and the disfigurement of reality seeking to reflect the inner heartbreak of her models. . Reflecting the violence, the squalor, the cruelty, which are sometimes hidden under a superficial layer of glamour, under an evanescent and ephemeral beauty, is one of its main objectives. Her work is grouped into collections or series, such as the one dedicated to Frida Kahlo or A Portrait of Human Knowledge (2012), where she depicts some of the most significant figures in the world of culture and science of the last 150 years, from Stravinsky to Marie Curie, Billy Holiday or Federico García Lorca. The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions, both individual and group, in important cities such as New York, Dubai, Miami, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Venice, Monaco and Seoul. She has received numerous awards and recognitions, such as the Gypsy Culture Prize for Painting and Plastic Arts from the Institute of Gypsy Culture, in 2011. She is, in addition, one of the most sought-after living artists in the current art market. In 2015, Artprice magazine included her in position 333 on its list of the 500 most sought-after contemporary artists, placing her only behind Miquel Barceló and Juan Muñoz in terms of Spanish artists.

Measurements: 117 x 102 cm. The portrait of Anne Frank was part of the series that Lita Cabellut dedicated to the great creators of the 20th century. "Portrait of Human Knowledge" (2012) is a tribute to human knowledge, a tribute to art in all its expressions: from the music of Maria Callas and Igor Stravinsky to the cinema of Chaplin, the literature of Lorca, Neruda and Kafka, the dance of Nureyev, the philosophy of Nietzsche, the science of Einstein, Freud and Madame Curie.... In the case of Anne Frank, art becomes a valuable weapon of subsistence and an indelible testimony of the cruellest history. Of gypsy origin, Lita Cabellut was born in the small town of Sariñena, in Huesca, into a family with serious dysfunctionalities. Abandoned by her parents, she was raised by her grandmother in the city of Barcelona. Enclosed certificate of authenticity issued by the artist. Measurements: 80 x 80 cm; 94 x 93 cm (frame). Lita Cabellut's portraits are transposed with a tactile light, which is evident in "Sofia", a female portrait that is part of the series "Army of poets" (2017). In this series, she set out to examine the paradoxes of war as a collision of idealism and barbarism. For Cabellut, faces are themselves a battlefield. Using different techniques, inherited from fresco painting but also from oil and combine painting, the result is a palimpsest of layers through which we gain access to the character's interior. In this portrait he manages to transcend the anecdote, the fleeting instant of the blue eyes that look at us, to extract a transcendental truth from the ephemeral beauty. Art also has its army, an army of poets capable of sowing a flower in a scorched earth. Of gypsy origin, Lita Cabellut was born in the small town of Sariñena, in Huesca, into a family with serious dysfunctionalities. Abandoned by her parents, she was raised by her grandmother in the city of Barcelona. Measurements: 80 x 80 cm; 94 x 93 cm (frame). In Lita Cabellut's female portraits the eternal and the ephemeral converge in a mysterious way. Using a language that only she knows, based on the simultaneity of ancient and modern techniques, she manages to transmute the mundane beauty of a face into an entity that carries enigmas. The woman we see here, with half-closed eyelids and immersed in her thoughts, withdraws from our gaze and preserves her secret. The allusion to flowers, symbols of fragility, is constant in Cabellut's work. Bold fluffy brushstrokes, spontaneous in appearance but carefully placed, dialogue with the perfect delineation of the fine features. Of gypsy origin, Lita Cabellut was born in the small town of Sariñena, in Huesca, in a family with serious dysfunctionalities. His work abounds in portraits, where the strong influence of Rembrandt, Francis Bacon or Jackson Pollock can be seen, all of them characterised by the expressiveness of the line and the disfigurement of reality in an attempt to reflect the inner tearing of his models. Reflecting violence, sordidness and cruelty, which are sometimes hidden under a superficial layer of glamour, under an evanescent and ephemeral beauty, is one of her main objectives. The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions, both solo and group, in major cities such as New York, Dubai, Miami, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Venice, Monaco and Seoul. She has received numerous awards and recognitions, such as the Gypsy Culture Award for Painting and Plastic Arts from the Institute of Gypsy Culture in 2011.

"Fairy Flower 12", 2015. Mixed media on canvas. Signed and dated on the back. Size: 213 x 142 cm; 223 x 154 cm (frame). In the series "Fairy Flower", Lita Cabellut ennobles the female figures in a renewed way. The exotic beauty of the young woman is combined with a primal wisdom that emerges from her black eyes, her goddess-like posture and her porcelain flesh tones. The intuitive effects of colour, bubbling emerald and intense yellow, awaken our sensibility. Lita Cabellut gives us a monumental portrait. The young woman's face makes a deep impression with its dark eyes and the delicacy of her torso. Resolved with a hyperreal technique, it contrasts with the informalism that reigns in the background and with the dripping that snakes over the figure and explodes on her lap, evoking an abstract floral bouquet. Figure and background acquire magnetic textures that awaken in the viewer the desire to touch the surface of the painting. The technical complexity and expressive results, characteristic of Cabellut's style, have made the Spaniard one of the most sought-after artists on an international level. Of gypsy origin, Lita Cabellut was born in the small town of Sariñena, in Huesca, into a family with serious dysfunctionalities. LITA CABELLUT (Sariñena, Huesca, 1961). "Hidden Dreams 05" 2013. Mixed media on canvas. Attached certificate issued by the artist. This work participated in The World Art Fair, Moscow, Russia, 2013. Sizes: 250 x 200 cm; 254 x 204 cm (frame). Lita Cabellut offers us a monumental female portrait faithful to her artistic style. The young woman's face makes a deep impression with its black eyes and the delicacy of her flesh tones, which seem to crack like porcelain. Resolved with a hyperreal technique, it contrasts with the informalism that prevails in the background and with the dripping that meanders over the figure. In fact, figure and background acquire magnetic textures that awaken in the viewer the desire to feel the surface of the painting. The composition, simple in its content but complex in its technique, colours and shapes, continues Cabellut's own style, a tremendously expressive style that has made the Spaniard one of the most sought-after artists on an international level.
