Painter, engraver and bibliophile, he was a disciple of Francesc Labarta in the School of the Fish Market of Barcelona. As a painter he was mainly dedicated to landscapes (especially of old Barcelona and Montseny), with a naturalistic style, faithful to nature, detailed and with fine strokes. He had important individual and collective exhibitions in Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, Munich and London, among other European cities. Among his awards, the Travelling Exhibition in New York (1926), an exhibition that brought him international fame, and the gold medal in the competition "Barcelona seen by its artists" (1931) stand out. He exhibited regularly at the Sala Parés, and was a member of the group Los Evolucionistas until 1923. He also collaborated in many of the bibliophile editions of the publishing house Montaner y Simón, a prominent company to which the artist was linked by family ties, always using etching, generally in color. He is represented in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona.

Oil on canvas. Signed and dated 1988. 91x73 cm. Capmany was a painter trained at La Llotja who was particularly interested in depicting the Catalan landscape. He developed a realistic style focused on the natural surroundings of the Barcelona area, and exhibited his work on several occasions at Sala Parés. Although his work is mainly focused on landscape painting, there is an early phase in which he immersed himself in the social life of the Noucentisme movement; an example of this is this painting, where nature steps aside to make way for a female portrait and the atmosphere of the cafés in Barcelona during the early decades of the 20th Century.

Soiling and some creases. Size: 33,5 x 25,5 cm each. Painter, engraver and bibliophile, Ramón Capmany was a disciple of Francesc Labarta at the Escuela de la Lonja in Barcelona. As a painter he devoted himself mainly to landscapes (especially of old Barcelona and Montseny), with a naturalistic style, faithful to nature, detailed and with fine strokes. He held important solo and group exhibitions in Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, Munich and London, among other European cities. His prizes include the Travelling Exhibition in New York (1926), an exhibition that brought him international fame, and the gold medal in the competition "Barcelona seen by its artists" (1931). He exhibited regularly at the Sala Parés and was a member of the group Los Evolucionistas until 1923. He also collaborated on many of the collector's editions of the Montaner y Simón publishing house, a prominent company to which the artist was linked by family ties, always using etching, generally in colour. He is represented at MACBA.
