      Henry Carling (Br., 1856-1932), Portrait of a Lady oil on canvas wrapped around board, signed lower right "H. Carling," ca. 1900, inscribed on the verso "Dickinson," housed in a period frame with applied morning glory composition ornament, under glass. Henry Carling and his younger brother James, both artists, were born in Liverpool, England. In 1871, they both emigrated to the United States, with Henry settling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His works are in several public and private collections including the Tweed Museum of Art in Duluth, MN and the Minnesota Historical Society. SS 11.5" x 9.5"; DOA 13.5" x 11.5"
