    Est: €1,100 - €1,200

TROELS CARLSEN (Denmark, 1973). Untitled, 2011. Mixed media and gouache on lithography on two joined papers. Presents fold marks on the paper and moisture stains. Signed and dated in the lower right area. Measurements: 110 x 63,5 cm; 116 x 69 cm (frame). Piece made with two papers that are united to form a joint composition dominated by a human anatomy in which the nervous system is appreciated. The center of the scene is dominated by a trompe l'oeil opening that leads to a ring where two wrestlers meet. Troels Carlsen is a Danish artist who works in a wide range of media, including collage, illustration and installation. Inspired by skateboard culture, Carlsen discovered graffiti in the mid-1980s. Troels Carlsen is known for his precise figurative and surrealistic works on paper, inspired by historical scientific and botanical illustrations. His works focus on human relationships with the animal world. The Redeemed Part 3 (2017) illustrates Carlsen's process of painting directly on ancient prints while revealing his sensual appreciation of human anatomy. Birds and tigers are a recurring theme throughout his work, with monkeys being a particularly popular motif. Although best known for his works on paper, Carlsen also produces sculpture. Presents marks of folds in the paper and humidity stains.
