Artist Marie Charlot was actually a fictional artist created by Collectors Corner Inc., an art seller that hired artists to create Victorian-style oil paintings. Marie Charlot oil paintings were in fact created by Far East painters and sold under the invented name because buyers preferred pieces by English, French, or American artists. The name Marie Charlot was signed on Collectors Corner pieces from 1960 to 1970.
Marie Charlot oil paintings were inspired by examples of French or Victorian art that the painters viewed; they then created similar pieces in the same style. The whimsical, well-crafted vintage pieces are still popular and avidly collected, although Marie Charlot painting prices vary greatly. You can buy your next spectacular oil painting for sale online and start building your artist nook.

RB Fine ArtsOld Impresionist Painting Marie Charlot (XX) Ladies on the beach Artist: Marie Charlot Title: Ladies on the beach Technique: oil painting on canvas Condition: Excellent Unframed dimensions: 20†x 16†Signature: Marie Charlot Marie Charlot is known as one of the finest artists with a keen sense of popular history. From the New Jersey shore, she has researched the archives of Atlantic City history creating the beautiful beach scenes of yesteryear. The strolling ladies with parasols, the famous Boardwalk, the jitney chairs, the posturing gentleman, are all rendered in magnificent oils. Her impressionistic technique makes liberal use of the art palette knife to add a sense of subtlety to her works. Beyond her popular Roaring 20's beach scenes, Marie is also famous for her paintings of the "Sport of Kings". To say she is a horse-racing enthusiast is to restate the obvious. Marie loves the ponies. It is obvious in her striking oils that pay tribute to one of God's most noble beast, the thoroughbred racing horse.
