  • Original Russell Chatham Lithograph, "Late Winter"
    Jul. 18, 2026

Original Russell Chatham Lithograph, "Late Winter"

    Est: $1,000 - $2,000

Presented in this lot is an Original Russell Chatham Lithograph, "Late Winter", specifically titled "Mount Delano in Late Winter", Signed, 1992, Limited Edition #221/275. This poignant artwork captures the quiet, stark soul of the shifting seasons in Montana's Paradise Valley. The piece features the "thin color" typical of the late winter thaw. It showcases a muted, heavy sky blanketing the snowy peaks of Mount Delano. Like much of his work, it evokes a profound sense of isolation, stillness, and intimacy with the natural world. It remains highly sought after by collectors of Western and Tonalist contemporary art. Legendary American Western artist Russell Chatham (1939–2019) was known for his tonalist style, Chatham captured the deeply haunting, muted glow of changing evening light over Western waters. Chatham utilized a meticulous, pioneering printmaking process that required anywhere from 30 to 50 distinct layers of color and hand-drawn plates. He hand-pulled his prints using complex color shifts, capturing an "optical vibrancy" that mimics subtle changes in seasonal weather and twilight. This beautiful, impressive and original lithograph is in very nice condition, light scuffing on frame. Visible art measures 16"W x 20"L, frame is 30.25"W x 34.75"L x 1.125"D. Combined weight is
