Noack Berlin' Overall height (sculpture): 62 cm Overall dimensions (base): 17 x 41.5 x 41.5 x cm (height x width x depth) Good condition Provenance: private collection, northern Germany The present bronze torso depicts a curvy female body and was made by the Greek artist Chatziioannidis Fotis, who has settled in Berlin since the 1970s. The torso captivates through its bold shape and tension that appears here as a symbol of youthful femininity. The sculpture is in good condition considering its age. It is signed, numbered and inscribed at the lower verso edge of the thigh 'Fotis. 7/9. Noack Berlin'. The torso is screwed onto a square base, measuring 17 x 41.5 x 41.5 x cm (height x width x depth). The sculpture itself measures 62 cm in height. Chatziioannidis Fotis (b. 1940) The Greek artist Chatziioannidis Fotis studied at the Academy of Arts in Athens from 1959 to 1965. He then worked as a freelance sculptor and art educator in the capital (1965-1971). He received further artistic training at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, where he studied under Bernhard Heiliger from 1972 to 1977. The artist lives and works in Berlin ever since. His works have been exhibited at a number of international solo and group exhibitions since the late 1970s and the artist's performance has also been repeatedly awarded.
