CHARLES CLAIR SIGNED ART POTTERY VASE: Charles Clair (French, 1860-1930) Signed and Hand-Painted Antique Slab Vase w/ formal men stooping/neck bowing to beautiful lady in long white dress. Unique shaped vase with scene painted on front side, and the rest with blue and tan hues. Signed front bottom left. Shallow crazing due to age. Charles Clair was a well-known French painter and printmaker. Born in Mars-Sur-Allier and studied at the Parisian Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He exhibited regularly at the Salon de Societe de Arts Francais and was made a member there in 1913. He was a painter and engraver of local subjects, landscapes and animals. His paintings reflected Romanticism. Approx. 14.25" h x 8.5" w x 5.25" d.
